Travis d'Arnaud behind the plate 2

Travis d’Arnaud eyeing Wednesday return from DL

Travis d’Arnaud went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and caught for five innings in a rehab game with Double-A Binghamton on Sunday.

It was the first time he played in a game since suffering a concussion on May 13 against the Yankees.

The Mets said d’Arnaud will DH in another rehab game Monday, catch again Tuesday and potentially be activated Wednesday.

“There was one on a curveball in the dirt, I kind of flinched back,” d’Arnaud said after the game (Press & Sun Bulletin, May 25). “It was a curveball to the left and it was kind of like the same thing. Right when he swung, I kind of fell straight back. It wasn’t even close to me, I guess. I just flinched.”

Hopefully, he can eye the baseball at the plate and actually hit it.

Do we have to have Kevin give us a speech about someones habits? Please stop it. Isn't it bad enough the team sucks we have to have a special call on the players!

Hey Wilpon save some money put Kevin upstairs.

We'll probably never hear from this stiff again.

Is the field in Bing as big as Citi field? It would be nice if TDA hits more HR at Citi.

Cheer up. The Red Sox have lost 10 straight and have a 20-29 record. They are in last place and their chances of getting to the play-offs are mighty slim. Wonder if they can use some pitching. I wonder who they can give n return.

I wouldn't mind the low payroll if Terry would just FIELD THE BEST F*CKING LINEUP EVERYDAY!

it's unbelievably frustrating. Cut Chris Young, please. He won't be here next year anyway.

It's 10 AM. It's a beautiful day. Just checked around for fun. Tons of tickets available all over the stadium at a fraction of list price. In pre-Sandy days, the Mets would routinely sell out or come close to it on days like this. Freddy must be pulling his hair out.....

Can we all just agree to the following?

1. Sandy's plan has failed miserably

2. The team is no better off today then when Sandy started, In fact, it's probably worse.

3. Attendance will continue to decline due to the lack of quality being put out on the field.

4. Sandy's free agent signings have been about as successful as Kyle Farnsworth.

Was I the only one who LMAO when I read "The Mets open a three-game set against the Ike Davis and the Pirates" a few threads down? Because we all know Ike is the heart & soul of the pirates lol.

Put Abreu at first. Play den Dekker in center. Abreu in right. Campbell in left. Granderson in left. Granderson in right. Move Dice-K into the rotation. Montero to the bullpen. Play Recker more. Play Recker less. Flores will save us. Trade Murphy. Trade Wright. Trade Myrphy and Wright. Get Goldschmidt/Tulowitzki/Stanton.

All opinions posted on here. And everyone of then correct, it seems. The people on here know so much it's scary.

They could have spent about 35 mill more (peralta, cruz, and Abreau MINUS C young) and had one of the best teams in baseball that the fans would be flocking to see. The extra payroll would have been supplemented by the extra ticket sales alone (forget about all the extra parking and concessions on top of that). I have to believe somebody is dictating to the Wilpons what they are allowed to spend.

Please stop with the "well So and So turned it around.....", or, "it took So and So three years to get going", meme.  For every So and So that got his act together another thousand crashed and burned.  This kid has been adequate defensively and awful offensively.  He needs a full season in the minors, out of the spotlight, something he hasn't had in three seasons due to injuries.  First the Mets need to learn if he has the resiliency to last a full season behind the plate, and second, he needs to get his timing back - if it's there at all - in a relatively stress free environment.   This kid isn't ready, to force him will be to set him up to fail.

Evan Roberts of WFAN radio is a die hard Mets fan and he still goes to games...what a a**h*l*.

Speaking of attendance...mets are currently 16th in baseball at 27 per game. Not good but not horrible either. Until the idiots stop going to the games, why would the Wilpons change their tactics?

I wrote last week that this week will hit the team with a bomb exploding and it happened to the fact that the team cannot hit with men on base so I say to you what good does good pitching help when guys can't come home. What a shame.

WHY IS LUCAS DUDA AND CHRIS YOUNG STILL ON THIS ROSTER....WHY?????

I hear they might be willing to part with Stephen Drew.

@Chapter 7 While we're at it, please start Campbell over Duda. As per a Daily news article today: 'Duda actually left just 15 men on as he’s gone 0-for-9 over the last three games. But it’s likely to feel like a lot more than 20 on Monday." need i say anything more?

Hello. Anyone home? Alderson won't permit it.

Sell out? What team were you watching? I'd go to 50 games a year, mostly last minute decisions, because they didn't sell out.

That raises the question on our minds: is Alderson any good at player evaluation?

@ifti99 depends on  your perspective...

from a fans perspective you are basically correct....but from ownerships (his boss) im not sure you are.

This is the problem when ownerships goal is to maintain control, tread water, and pay down debt and the fans want to win.

we (fans/owneship) have different goals...different agendas and different desires.

@yankeehater

and you assume that the other teams would just roll over and die if the Mets would take the money to pay what the other teams in the end paid . I call that naiv .

First you do not know if the Mets made a bid

Second you don't know if the other teams would not have Bid more if the Mets matched the price

So its really just not realistic to say the Mets could have had the players for the same price, it most likely is not true

@yankeehater Yes the judge that said you have to pay investors that lost money in the Madoff scandal.

@greekgod That's the problem...people talk so much BS, but at the end of the day they are nothing more than enablers.

@yankeehater Considering the Mets are (supposedly) a large market team, being ranked 16th is not good at all.

greekgod

@yankeehater that is what I've been saying all along.....but its not going to change because those are not Mets fans only baseball spectators.

@Father Dooley Lucas is too cheap to get rid of.

Chris Young is too expensive.

Goldman Sachs doesnt base its decisions on finance as much as the mets do.

And the answer to that question is no he isn't. The first trade he made here was Pagan for Torres and some bum reliever who's name I can't remember.

@shea The ownership is desperate to bring in fans and losing tens of millions, They are getting roasted in the press daily. Tell me, by what measure would the owners think they are succeeding?????

yankeehater
yankeehater

@greekgod @yankeehater yeah...but it seems like they have a cap that we don't know about. The moves to be made last off-season were too obvious. I think they just screwed up on Cruz by not waiting. They never even seriously thought about peralta or abreau.

shea
shea

@mets74 @yankeehater thats the fans view...that 16th in NYC is bad...

Ownerships view is that 16th with one of the cheapest rosters in the game is further indication that spending would be stupid...why bother spending when people will come just the same.

Father Dooley
Father Dooley

@shea But keeping them on this roster is a BAD INVESTMENT!  Duda+Young = MORE LOSSES, which means LESS PEOPLE AT THE BALLPARK which means LESS MONEY FOR THE TEAM.

A F__ING MONKEY CAN SEE THAT!!!

shea
shea

@ifti99 @shea they got caught in the biggest ponzi scheme in history and have managed to maintain control of their hobby when every indication was they wouldnt.

They have cut payroll more than any team in history, this year are one of the lowest in the game and yet still are 16th in attendance

They have managed to keep MLB out of their hair.

While the mets have lost money they (sterling equities) have managed to slowly pay down debt....paying down debt....aka... .leaving Jeffy with a better inheritance

Fred doesnt want to win...he wants to leave Jeff with as little debt as possible in the best position for jeff to succeed.

They arent trying to win...they are trying to keep the team(and wait for real estate to rebound)...and they have...thats a success.

shea
shea

@yankeehater @shea @mets74 thats not necessarily fair...."fans" arent necessarily going....this is a city of over 8m, plus one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world....there is a attendance "floor"

You have tourists

Class trips soon to be summer camp trips

Corporate seats

They will always draw some fans....there are simply too many people around not to.

greekgod
greekgod

@yankeehater @greekgod That is the last time I went to a game was in '07 also with my son, he is boycotting games too. My oldest son would attend a game if they were winning at least 85 games.

shea

@Father Dooley @shea

Your monkey analogy is ridiculous...cause you dont know a thing...you might think you do...but you dont.

you're assuming less people will come...which might not be true....you're getting very close to vacation season in NYC...and people need a place to go when the Yanks are on the road.

In a city with a population over 8m...plus tourists...there is a attendance floor...he could put trained dogs on the field and still get buts in the buckets....they have proven that over the past few years (and this year)

They are 16th in baseball in attendance...coming off a reduction in payroll and years of losing....they will draw...they have drawn...with bad players.

Sure if they spent more, they might win more and draw more....but there is no guarantee...Wilpon has bills to pay and this is the safest way to do it....keep payroll low and rely on tourists and summer camps....IT WORKS (as much as it makes me want to vomit)

Wilpon doesnt want to win...he wants to pay his bills...and this is the safest way to do that while taking on the least amount of risk.   You hire cheap players and rely on the sheer size of NYC

EVEN A PRIEST WITH NO FINANCE BACKGROUND CAN SEE THAT!!!
