such a shame and a disgrace. one of the best fanbases in all of baseball and it goes to waste every year. sick of this crap. this team is such sh-t. effin embarrassment.

well the 4 game win streak was nice.  i try to remain optimistic but very hard to do so. we are a border line minor league team. why fool ourselves. different year same sad story. Its pretty sad when your best player is daniel murphy.

I can only imagine how many more wins we would have with Flores in the lineup everyday, all year.

With Tejada in the lineup, you can't play EY. Lineup to weak with 8 at bat's between them most of the time. That is almost a third of your 27 outs

Bad lineup tonight

What is gonna suck is one day when Campbell comes in to play SS and he costs us a game defensively before we get rid of one of our not 1.. not 2.. not 3.. not.. 4.. not 5.. but 6 outfielders (Lebron voice) on the roster.

Mets will lose to a garbage junk ball pitcher like Harang 9 out of every 10 times...period.

The great teams understand it's important not to take your foot off the throat.

@kefhrny17 Yep, no shame in losing a game to the braves after winning the previous 3, but if they want to be a competitive team moving forward, can't let one loss turn into a slide and there is no excuse for anything less than 2 out of 3 vs. the Marlins.

@cyrus  You can't your hope too high with this team.  A 4 game winning streak is very nice and 3 of 4 from Atlanta.  But they need to get to .500 before there is something to really get excited about.

@Frank  I like the idea of replacing CY with Wilmer.  It'd give us a backup SS as well.

@eric88 Just to follow up, Flores has a negative WAR in his ML career, Tejada this year has an 0.9 WAR and 3 out of the last 4 years a positive WAR. That's not great but it's better than Flores.

@eric88 What's with the Flores fascination? Perhaps he'll be a solid major leaguer one day. Right now he's not a good defensive SS and he hasn't hit when given the chance at the ML level. You think they'd have more wins? Do tell how many. Because I think they'd have fewer wins - worse defense than Tejada and no signifificant upgrade on offense. How does that translate to more wins?

@eric88 i highly doubt it would make any sort of significant difference

@Eric Raffle Prior to that at bat, CY was 2 for 3 in his career v Kimbrel with a HR, EYJr. 0 for 2 v. Kimbrel, so I guess that was the reasoning. Pretty small sample size to go off of though. It would have made sense if CY was the tying run (can still occasionally hit one out and didn't miss doing so by that much in his at bat on a foul ball he hit), but made little sense needing a base runner to get the tying run up. CY seems like a nice guy and I have no personal animosity towards him, but he just isn't a very good ball player at this point and given the surplus of outfielders the team has, it makes little sense to keep him on the roster, especially without having a true backup SS. Since it's a one year contract and CY clearly is not going to have any trade value, there is simply no benefit to keeping him on the team. Alderson needs to recognize that CY's contract is a sunk cost and cut the team's losses. Fwiw, Gary Cohen thought it was a puzzling move to hit CY, rather than EYJr., in that spot too.

CY had a history of 2-3 with 2 walks and a homer against Kimbrel.

@Eric Raffle

Terry:  We were going to lose anyway, so it was a good time to get CY an at-bat, keep him sharp?

@eric88 Um, they won 1 game in which both were in the lineup and they lost one. And they won another game in which EY played half the game because it went extra innings. How does that suggest that it can't be done?

@January 12th It's not fair to Wheeler, or just about anybody, to compare them to Harvey.  Wheeler is still figuring it out, and I hope he gets good.  Personally, I think deGrom might have a better career than Wheeler, but the jury is still out.

@citifield Hard to rag on Travis too hard; he's been MUCH better since his return from Las Vegas and now looks to be growing into the ballplayer we all thought he should be.

@eric88  Yes, why didn't TC put guys in the lineup who would've gotten hits and scored 4 runs? Who are those guys eric88? Enlighten us, don't just whine.

@January 12th Not no offense. Try a brilliantly pitched game by Harang and relievers. Try to understand that the other team is trying to win too.

Eric Vierow

Harang sucks....mets u make him look like an all-star. Now we will carry quiet bats into marlins series and we will be 10 under before weekend..thats why u just cant take this team seriously

@Rimo Chaloney @cyrus sadly this is what it has come to. getting excited about a team getting to .500. I hate to break it to all baseball fans but if you aren't 10 games over .500 at this point in the season or somewhere close to that there is absolutely NO reason to get excited about anything.

This team reminds me of money ball. Terry doesn't want to play cy anymore and sandy wants to be able to trade him

@nncyel @eric88 Too many soft hitter's in the lineup already. 1 or 2 games is not a sample size. How many runs do you expect to score with 2 sub .240 hitters with no power?

January 12th
January 12th

@ken1010, i concur. I think deGrom has legitimate stuff, wheeler is good too, but man. Harvey can't get back fast enough. Most scouts actually believed that wheeler would have a better career than Harvey, so we will see. So far Harvey > Wheeler hands down. And good point, I'm looking forward to see who will be the best out of deGrom and Wheeler

@Jake Polom you know the mets actually had a chance to select fernandez but instead drafted nimmo

Eric Vierow

What r u defending harang...so hes only brilliant every time he faces the mets? It was same old offense.. Get guys on and cant get big hit...they did it for a few games....but a duck is a duck anyway u spin it.

It's hard to trade a sub-.200 hitter.

nncyel

@Eric Vierow He's won 9 games before the allstar break with a 3.53 ERA - he's not just beating the Mets. He has a better ERA than Colon. And better than Wheeler.
