Hey, it was a great throw.  Speed is just another thing the Mets have none of.

Mets on pace to win 67 games.

How the f can you get thrown out that deep on a throw from LF?  Twice.  Stupidest team ever.  Dead from the neck up.

Hey Kirk whats the shortest distance between two point?? A straight line, you slide directly into the plate and you'd be safe or if you hit the catcher then your safe because he's blocking the plate.

i can't come up with a better explanation than god hates the mets and their fans

I'd give Kirk a start tomorrow as reward for the leadoff double in the 9th even though it didn't amount to much in the end

Even if cy doesnt get a hit you have two other guys if you dont bunt

That's 9 folks..9 games that moron Terry has lost this year on his own..the non challenge was the game..9 games..Mets would be above 500 with a different manager

It wasnt the throw of the year keith needs to watch more than the mets

If I'm TC I tell my team if Salty blocks the plate tomorrow, take his leg out.

it would still be 21 mEs if Collins challenges the play at second

WWow I didn't agree with bunting tejeda only because CY is a strikeout machine but everything went according to plan and it still didn't work

Bad loss..most of them are with this sorry franchise...goodnight

Had to send him so he could justify being the only manager giving up an out to bunt a guy to third

There was nothing wrong with that slide. He popped up to try to avoid the tag when he saw Salty with the ball. Ozuna...man, what an arm...

twice they blew that call

salty blocked the plate without the ball twice

whats the point of replay when they still cant get the call right?

The 3rd base coach has to make the right call. 2x he got it wrong.  He's as good a coach as he was player.

Why make a rule if there is different interpretations of the rule. It should be one or the other. This is why you should be able to smash the catcher. He was blocking the plate without the ball on both plays.

@Kyle Turck yeah wright did the same thing. if wright went straight in and made contact with salty's leg then maybe they would of overturned it

They probably actually don't want to play Kirk though because if he happens to get on a hot streak and hits the ball well during this next week or so they'd feel more pressure to release CY when Lagares comes back which they obviously don't want to do. It's safer and easier to just let Kirk rot on the bench till then so they can just send him back down with limited push back

@Joe Wenzel  How is it sorry a rule is a rule. Plays like that have cost teams playoff births and have won or lost world series.

Its why I will always have love for Pete Rose he would take out his nephew in a tee ball game.

Every play matters.

@Keith Allen-Verdi Yeah this game had nothing to do with aterrible throw from Recker, two shaky calls at the plate, and Duda up with 2 on and a 3-1 pitch and tapping it to the mound.

@Dana Smith @docj His right foot was at the side of the plate before the tag.  If it had gone straight to the plate, he might have gotten there.

They fought tonight, without an unreal throw we're still playing.

Dana Smith

@Daniel Burnard You can take out the catcher if he is in the path. It would be an automatic run if he is deemed to have blocked. Salty's leg was in the way, take out his leg.

ken1010
ken1010

@Daniel Burnard Kirk had a lane to slide right at the edge of the plate and touch it before he was tagged.  His left knee might have hit the catcher.  But he should have taken that chance instead of going around with a hook slide.

@cyrus @Kyle Turck ya im thinking that with this rule, the catchers didnt know what to do at first and then they started to figure it out and now the runners dont know.  Salty clearly was trying to block part of the plate

nncyel
nncyel

@kefhrny17 in fact you have no idea what you're talking about because the chances of scoring are greater with a runner on 3rd and 1 out than a runner on 2nd and no outs.

jonlga
jonlga

If the throw wasn't absolutely perfect then the run scores and the bunt worked.

nncyel
nncyel

@Joe Wenzel @docj 0 outs, runner on 2nd, chance of scoring is 0.633

1 out runner on 3rd, chance of scoring is 0.667.

Bunting was tthe correct strategy in that situation.

Jayson Love

@ken1010 @Dana Smith @docj I think what i would tell baserunners if I was coaching is that if the catcher is blocking any part of the plate without the ball, slide into him.  If Wright and Kirk slid into Salty, I'd think the ump would have to say he was blocking the plate before catching the ball

Kyle Turck
Kyle Turck

@Jayson Love @cyrus @Kyle Turck Which, if the runner isnt allowed to touch the catcher, is an unfair advantage to the catcher bc it's a shorter distance. Rule should be a must slide rule like a second on a double play

bbr7
bbr7

@Kyle Turck @Jayson Love @cyrus the rule is the rule. but you gotta admit its pretty ridiculous. it reminds me of little league. it should be like it used to be before the rule, and catchers should be able to avoid getting knocked out

No Both Times Salty have runners a lane. Let's be completely honest. The Marlins deserved to win this game.
