Murphy and Lagares are the only trade able players beside pitching (3 of them).  What can we get for those 5 players?  Who wants Tejada or CY?  No One. Duda?  EY Jr would be a throw in.  Grandy and Wright aren't going anywhere with their contracts. Sandy is not in an enviable bargaining position.

The only thing cool about tejada is that for some odd reason, he crushes the Phillies. So it's fun to imagine philly fans saying Ruben effin Tejada when he gets a huge hit agAINST them lol

@mets2death Tejeda sucks.  Trade both him and Collins for parking lot attendants.

@philsdad say what?  how many people do you think they need? you also disregard the minor leagues.  the mets have some of the most sought after guys.  the one thing they can do is trade.  they have more than enough to get a good ss and OF if they really wanted to.

@Mickey Jennifer Wind @philsdad  name one sought after guy in the minors.  The guys they brought up have not done well and not increased their value as mlb players.  Flores and D'Arnaud lead the list of players that had more trade marketability before the season then they do now.

@Doubleday Oh, and Sandy? By hitting we DO NOT mean Kirk Newiuneheusieusoes and Flores. Thanks!

@jsteele1020 @Dr. Jonathan Reefer Flores cant hit? and you can tell this in 73 at bats? in the minors hes had 75 or more rbis in a minor league season 4 times  86 rbis last yr in AAA... so most would tend to disagree with you. 73 at bats is NOT plenty of chances.

@sandybgone @jsteele1020 I think we really just need some of our guys to perform at an average level. Just be average and we win. But some of these guys are well below their career averages, so far.

@jsteele1020 @Doubleday All I am going to say about Wilmer tonight is, if you bring up a kid with 5HR in 10 days because you need a bat and he's hot ... let the kid hit in more than a game a week.  Otherwise, leave him in AAA and let him play.

Actually I'm more concerned with his defense. He's not a good shortstop.

jsteele1020

@Dr. Jonathan Reefer I have watched him, he has no eye at the plate, he chases everything low and away. He has holes in his swing. If he was good, he would hit. He has had plenty of chances.

@jsteele1020 @sandybgone  what is average for CY?  Grandy is at his average and Wright is getting older.  Murphy is there and so is Duda??? And Lagares has exceeded expectations.  Are you talking D'Arnaud?

Jayson Love

The thing is no one is saying we need a stud ss but every other team's ss has plus ability in some part of his game, tejada is below average bat, way below average power, no speed, a weak arm and no range

He missed two balls against San Diego in one inning but neither an error because the Padres player didn't run. He didn't know the infield fly rule, didn't know he was supposed to back up on a comebacker. He couldn't field at AAA.

Hitting in the minors is suspect because of the pitching and the parks, but fielding is universal. He couldn't field in Vegas.

jonlga

Not trained? Then why should he be our shortstop?

jonlga

And that's your opinion. You're entitled. As is everyone else.

But Tejada has hit at this level and he can field. Flores is better suited at first. He is not a shortstop. And that's my opinion.
