The suffering continues........the fans of the team on the other side of town are laughing at us AGAIN. The AL East is so bad this year that the Yanks have a chance to make it to the playoffs despite losing two of their best pitchers! Maybe the organization should change the team name to Muts!Edit (in 3 minutes)

Lets be honest. Granderson has not been nearly the player you hoped for and David Wright has hit horribly, especially in the clutch. You would be better off with Jacob de Grom hittin g third.

Its not only that the owners dont wanna spend, or cant spend as much as they used to, but its doubly crippling when the money they DO spend goes to flops like Wright, Granderson, CY, Francisco and Bay.  Alderson, while he has developed some good young pitching, has been a completed dud signing free agents, and thats why the losing goes on and on.

Has wright ever got a mvp vote

And there we have it. TC was just asked if he'd consider giving Wright tomorrow off with the off day on Monday and he pretty much said no. "The stars don't need that. They know they need to figure it out on the field." Good grief, Charlie Brown. What signs is he seeing that Wright is anywhere close to "figuring things out"?

This has been another painful season as a loyal Mets fan! Using the excuse of Harvey's injury is inexcusable. We were told that 2014 would be the "turnaround" year, but the reality is that it was the extension of many of the previous years. There have been some areas of promise. However, there has been no indication that management has the acumen or desire to build a winner, which is really demoralizing for someone who has followed this team through the few highs and many lows!

If you keep telling a guy he is the face of a bad franchise this is what happens

Let parnell start as the reliever so people can get it outta their system

Actually, I just looked it up. He finished top 10 4 times and top 20 twice. Actually finished 4th in the collapse year of 2007 and 6th one other year.

Cheryl Ann

Quite a few actually. Has even finished in top 10 a few times.

Hmmmm. Maybe that's why DW is tanking it?

Cheryl Ann

Sadly, this is all too true. However, I think DW needs to man-up. Just tell TC he needs to sit, if for no other reason to clear his head and, as Captain, show his teammates something about accountability. Anything else is just disrespectful and unbecoming of a team leader. The bad ABs, strike-outs and runners left is scoring position are one thing - all players have down years, but not stepping up and admitting you need to take a step away is something he has direct control over and can do right now.

Sad thing he is the third best hitter on the team

@sjm25  if healthy Harvey top ten pitchers in baseball  parnell not even best reliever on the mets, that's why

Harvey had surgery Aug 2013 Parnell April 30 2014. Big difference

Murphy? The only hitter on the team? Lol.

I'm glad it isn't "your team."

@Paul LeBarron completely overused for a guy with a nagging shoulder injury that is clearly affecting him to the point of career offensive lows across the board

thecasuaLGM

@docj pretty sure he will start as a reliever. sorry, I'm in ball breaking mode

John Schod

He is only the problem because on a team devoid of offensive talent, his less than exemplary season is personified tenfold! He has been a great Met and role model for baseball!

People dispise him because of how much money he makes, which is unfair.

I don't necessarily think it would be disrespecting DW if handled properly (big if, I know). Plenty of other "star players" get off days, particularly when they get older, are nursing injury or struggling. DW is going to have to learn sometime soon that he can't play every inning of every game anymore. Not many players do so there is no shame in that even if you are making $20 million. I don't think sending him up there to embarrass himself, let down the team, and get booed by the home fans coming up this week is going to help his confidence which obviously must be near all-time low. Sometimes "tough love" is needed. This must be one of those times.

thecasuaLGM
thecasuaLGM

@Cheryl Ann If that's true than the hell with DW. TC is more than qualified to dig his own grave

@Cheryl Ann this guy is making 20 million a year. 20000000 million divided by 162 games is  $123,456 per game. And you want him to ask the team to stop playing? seriously?

metdrama

@Cheryl Ann What's he lead them to?  6 straight losing seasons?  How to flop in big spots 101? Hes never been and never will be a team leader.

Then insist to the manager that you need rest OR dropped in the order. He's a big boy now. Getting paid to help win.

He'll yes. Parnell had the job b4 2013 and lost it multiple times. You guys have such short memories

Based on he less than avg. BTW he was 0 for 2014. He blew 100% of his save opptys

@John Schod  We despise him because he is the most over-rated player in the history of the game. It's not just about compiling stats. It's the "it" factor. Having the intangibles that make you a winner....which he is not by any measure.

Cheryl Ann
Cheryl Ann

Whether any of us believe he is a leader is probably not important but the fact is his teammates and the organization named him Captain. He accepted it and says he takes it seriously. He needs to check the ego at the door and put the team first.

We'll just wait n see. I hope Bobby comes all the way back strong. But I just watched B. Wilson an ace closer just throw all cutters at 89mph. It's not as easy as u think

@Arthur Anderson who's to say he hasn't and TC doesn't just hear a WOMPWOMPWOMP voice like when the adults talk in the peanuts.

metdrama

@sjm25 @metdrama @Cheryl Ann  Oh please, hes the highest paid player on the team, and has been anointed Captain for some reason.  Teammates look to him to come thru and lead the team to wins, which he NEVER does.  Look at David Ortiz and Jeter and tell me they are one only player who doesnt have an impact on the psyche and success of a team.  Those guys are real Captains, not this sham.

Arthur Anderson

My son here says the same thing. You may be right, but I think that if Wright pushed it, it would happen.
