Buddy Carlyle apparently is going to be "designated for assignment".

Buddy, we hardly knew ye, but we'll always cherish the memories. You were a good Met.

ATTENTION:  the METS lost to the ..... :gulp: CUBS!  its the end of the world ... run for the hills! ....  are you kidding, the mets just took 4 of five against the phillies in many extra innings .... i think its safe to say the mets aren't playing on a full tank. .... ooo i dare some loyal mets fan to say "o but when are they ever playing on a "full tank" ..."we can't win against the worst team in mlb.....we must fire TC, boycott the wilpons...don't go to games till they win". ...... the cubs who haven't won a championship since 1908 ... and guess what .... that stadium is packed every night. none of this complaining you see here..... they all just love the game of baseball, and support their team.

we've been rebuilding since '86 .... yeah go complain to the cubs

Sandy has done very little for this team. That goodness Omar left Sandy all this pitching and Beltran and Dickie to trade, or we would have nothing.

How does this confidence rating stay at 59%? Post the real results.

one good thing for met fans...yankees are .500 and 6 games out

Need to find a way to pray jay bruce or goldschmidt away from the reds or the d'backs.. gonna cost an arm and a leg but I've sick and tired of watching this offense

With the way this team is going maybe signing Wright to that deal wasn't a good idea..it may be that he may not be playing when ever this team becomes a contender.

Get em tomorrow..for the Mets to be serious contenders we need 2 more hitters..starting pitching is great..bullpen in decent..we are close..JUST SOMEBODY WAKE UP SANDY..GET A HITTER!!

I think people on here forget that it's just a game. Enjoy the three hours, get some sleep and guess what? Tomorrow morning you'll find the world didn't come to an end.

It's a game. Don't lose sight of that.

People can say what they want but you have to give the Marlins credit..they don't even have Fernandez and they still are in 2nd place.

Well, look at the bright side of things. The MLB draft is tomorrow. Since it will now be one year since the 2013 draft, doesn't ithat mean that we get to learn who the PBTNL is that we got for Ike Davis? I'm on the edge of my seat with that one.

Albert E Lewis

WOW.. I hope we can win 70 games this year... But even if we do we will still have a losing record over the past 4 years.

@1harris1

But scrubs like Eveland and Rice are still here..again another stupid move..one of many..Montero should be up here too

1harris1

But I couldn't care less about Cub fans. If they want to wave the pom poms and gleefully overlook 100 plus years of losing, great. That's not how it works here. When you've had 5 consecutive seasons of non competitive baseball like the Mets have had, you will rightfully get ripped apart by your fan base . The fans in NY give a damn. I'm glad it's that way.

eric88
eric88

Are you crazy. We spend no money, fill no holes via trade, and don't win. They have every right to complain. They would like to win, how about you.

Mike Garrison

Couldn't care less about the Yankees to be honest. One good thing is our division sucks.

Isn't that a problem in itself though? Sandy's been here 4 years, and it's still mostly Omar's team?

@bockers please you and all stop with this already.... if you really are boycotting and calling others to boycott ... you would not be on this blog. Its supported by SNY. the amount of time you spend on here or click, means sny can charge more for ads on here... which means more money for the wiilpons.... nice boycott

dooley
dooley

Agreed. We could have gotten Arenado plus more from the Rockies for him. It's not how you rebuild a team, and I believe this decision wreaks of Wilpon intervention. It would only make sense to resign Wright if you resigned Reyes before, not this wishy washy rebuild.

1harris1
1harris1

Hey, why not 2018? Dominic Smith will be ready by then. Only 3 more years of Duda after this one.

1harris1
1harris1

I agree whith you on Montero. As long as Gee is out, he should be in the rotation. Let him struggle and learn. As a possible important future part of the team, he would benefit from the experience of being up here.

You'd think after Buddy's yeoman effort on Saturday that they would keep him over Dana Eveland. Guess not.

theglider
theglider

Montero has too many hits and too many walks. He needs to work on his mechanics and AAA allows him to do that

chefmike87
chefmike87

@eric88 its a bit ironic thinking im crazy, when the same people like yourself suggesting were such a bad team, will be the first to yell how great we are when we win. yes we must spend more, as soon as we do, we will make out way to the world series! ... except how many times will it take with the team of little payroll making the world series before you think otherwise. baseball is a game to get away from your problems an have fun ... not turn baseball into a problem of your own.

1harris1
1harris1

Ha! Exactly true. I'd also trade our owners for theirs any day of the year.

bbr7
bbr7

@kefhrny17 very true. but they outspend everyone almost every year. if there was a salary cap in baseball would they have 27 titles? how about the days before the 70's when there was no draft and they were able to handpick talent from around the country?

Albert E Lewis
Albert E Lewis

@1harris1 Yeah but Duda might still be here playing the outfield and helping eat cheese steaks.

stemog
stemog

@theglider So do the major leagues when you have no offense whatsoever and no chance to win anything. Maybe learn the rest up here and be ready for next year or when he gets traded.

1harris1
1harris1

Dude, please. They're closer to last than first in a lousy division. Nothing to be excited about, and hardly worth celebrating after five consecutive seasons of bad baseball.

eric88
eric88

I didn't make it a problem, the Wilpons did. I can't oh well it like you., and I don't go crazy when they win, because they will ALWAYS give it back.

1harris1
1harris1

You're right. When does Sandy go about replacing them?

chefmike87
chefmike87

@JimmyBXnyc alright lets take this slow. metsblog, is now part of SNY. SNY gives metsblog money. SNY gets money from many sources, which include ads on here ( yes that includes Verizon ), ads before videos, podcasts .... presented by Verizon ( which means they give money)

the amount of money paid from different companies, as well as how much money SNY will give metsblog from other sources  is dictated by web traffic to the site, how long users are on the site.  Simply ... the more people using the site, the more money the site can generate... and the more valuable the site becomes. This means the Wilpons, who are principal owners of all mets operations ... inducing SNY ( which owns metsblog) So when this site increases in value, from amount of users ,  or generates income from sponsored media  .... the wilpons have assets worth more money, they get moreeee moneyyyyy. So this brings back to my original comment, all those who yell for a mets boycott, force the team to sell, don't give the mets/ wilpons money .... its all a waste, and your doing the exact opposite of what they want.... guess you just got schooled by an ape.

chefmike87
chefmike87

@1harris1 dude ... ITS  A GAME. relax. you sound like every other teams fan base talking about the mets like that .... its okay ... jump on the bandwagon and call yourself number 1 loyal fan when they win

1harris1
1harris1

Ha! Man, you are really lost. Baseball is not "just a game" to fans here. It's a passion. People here complain when the team loses. What is it about this that you don't get? Complaining about the team doesn't reflect a lack of "loyalty". Actually, It's the exact opposite.

Trust me, I've been a Met devotee for a long time. I'm plenty "relaxed" when I'm on this blog, even if I'm not waving the pom poms in a manner that you'd like.

I don't know what else to tell you. Enjoy the Cubs I guess. LOL

eric88
eric88

No one has to jump on anything, we're here now, pointing out the issues with the team. If we ever win, we laud the reasons why they are that good. It's all part of the conversation.

1harris1
1harris1

Hope you're right. I'm not sure why it's taken 4 years to replace the likes of Duda and Tejada with legitimate ball players, but we 'll see soon enough what becomes of Sandy's "plan".

chefmike87
chefmike87

@1harris1 im lost ... seems you have no problem speaking your criticisms, but can't handle someone suggesting all the negative talk, the boycott nonsense ( not necessarily you ) is just silly. Go look at the latest article here ... the writers said exactly what i did, the team is tired. Its not something you immediately need to shout fire x y and z. Also i don't think loyalty means what you think it means.

chefmike87
chefmike87

@eric88 if you want to get all bent out of shape over the team , hey its your life. if you want to manage a team ... go build a fantasy baseball team. talk about all the issues you want, sandy, TC, the wilpons and all the mets i bet really don't care, they make millions win or loose. they have no obligation to win because you demand they win. i want the mets to win just as bad as anyone esle here does, but its just a game.
