Batting the pitcher 8th has got to stop.  Did the Mets ever look at the stats when La Russa did it?

HINT:  IT doesn't WORK.

The saddest part about this team is we are 6 out. If we had a team that could hit even just at an average MLB level, we could be competing for first place. The amount of 1 and 2 run games lost is sickening...SPEND MONEY!!!

This team is relying on 40 year old Bobby Abreu to be there everyday cleanup hitter... That is a joke! TC is responsible because he is a complete moron and Sandy is responsible because he put together this garbage roster. Time for real change, because change is most definitely needed!!

You think they were playing the 27 Yankees. The Cardinals are a nice team but not a great team, until they play the Mets.

This team is always criticized for not swinging at first swing strikes, so tonight with one more runner needed to be the tying run, they decide now to quick swing and end the game on pop ups.

Home run and a double and then - the manager and his staff's passionless, stupid vibe took over...

@Frank Garza  C'mon Frank does it really matter? We have like 4 good position players the rest put in a hat and bat them where ever. Its sad when I honestly think I would rather have Degrom in the everyday line up then CY.

@dluts33 TC is working with nothing. Sandy is certainly more to blame. The pathetic owners who won't spend are even more to blame.

You think this team has any chance? The NL East is pretty bad, but, rest assured, the Mets are the worst.

@markd The SLU JV squad could give the Cards a better game right now.

@monstah it's the only option they have left to possibly save the season.  I don't think it will make a difference but it's the only option left.

@Steven Matregrano Not the same team as last year. Give us a break.
Check out their BAs.

Even if the mets win the next 3 out of 4 , they will invariably lose the next 7 of 9. There is nothing in their performance this year to suggest this team has the consistency required to erase a 6 game deficit against a team like the Nationals, who are clearly a better team than the Mets. The Mets will end up in 5th or maybe 4th place if we are lucky.

@Steven Matregrano The teams looks putrid. No hitting, no fielding and no fundamentals. The announcers cannot even hide from it nor find a way to place any positive spin on it. The fact that the other teams in the division are not that good does not change anything but makes it worse because a mediocre team would be in the pace.

Mets are so messed up right now, I don't even know what will help them anymore.  Trying to analyze what this team needs this year has been an endless nightmare.  I would say after this year get rid of Collins then bring in someone with fire.  I remem when collins first came, Coleman interviewed Beltran and he asked him "so how would you like a mgr who may flip tables upside down"  Ha ha Collins has been the absolutely opposite of what we all thought he would bring.  Instead, he'll start crying for some guys like Tejada if we get on him.  He's a sensitive Ol' man now.  We all would love Backmans fire but you need to bring in more talent to let backman get in their faces.  Like Duda today at first and Murph for not applying that tag.
