Anybody notice that Murphy is intentionally trying not to walk? When he had a 3-2 count in the first inning, he was swinging at ball four. He does this all the time. He'll swing at pitches that almost hits his body. He refuses to walk. I've come to the conclusion that his .285/.330 OBP is not worth the amateur play everywhere else. Time to move him.

this lineup is ATROCIOUS!!!! you can not win games like this. What the hell is wrong with Alderson and Wilpon? They are like the kids that get a 15% on a exam in school. whats wrong with you dudes? you got like 10 people who are hitting below .240 and like three people hitting .275. how is this team only 6 games under .500? this team should be dead last in the entire league. are you guys serious?

Let Sandy go to some hack fan base (Philly for example), where all they care about is Football and Hockey and baseball only became popular because everyone hopped on the wagon.  Philly deserves Alderson, New York doesn't.  #TrueBaseballCity

This team has no offense...Sandy should be embarrassed at the average product he puts on the field day in and day out from a hitting perspective.  Regarding ticket sales, Sandy & the Mets players better step up and WALK THE WALK because until that happens, they can TALK all they want but Mets fans won't be WALKING through those ticket gates!  Ya Gotta Believe in Mets Fans being smart enough to call you out on your shiiit SANDYYYYYYYYYYYYY

The mets win last night and people here pile on. They get blown out in a laugher tonight, worthy of criticism but is it necessary?

If the mets won the world series, you'd still be coming here to whine about something.

Bad game, worse fans

Gotta stay up for the TC post gamer.  Can't wait until after the "we were tired" excuses, he tells us that Tejada will be back at SS tomorrow, with CY in the lineup as well.

Mets don't even have to wash uniforms, they barely played ball tonight

Or maybe the mets do the car wash because the Wilpons really want them to wash cars to bring in some extra cash

You guys are right imagine being Gary and Ron having to sit through this and call it?? I would get tanked if I were them, because that is what I'm doing now of course!

This has been one dreary game.  Mets fell behind big early and never got their bats going.  Should've watched a movie.

Sandy Alderson or Hodor?

@cleonsvan I think the call it "a slump". Every hitter in baseball has them. Murph's seemed to begin at the allstar game and is still got his head turned around

@cleonsvan I dont think he was trying not to walk but I agree its time to move on. He has become too odd and Terry let this fool throw between his legs miss assignments steal 3rd with 2 outs. Because of Terry he is now beyond repair. This is an example of the inmates running the asylum.

@Matt Drucker I'd wash the Wilpons car...with lighter fluid...and you know if I asked a Mets fan for a match, 45,000 fans would suddenly appear and beg me to torch the car, with the Wilpons in it

@sandybgone  No doubt.  Never mind they had 4 days off last week (with the exception of Murphy, I guess).

@Zott Sorry, calling someone or a group of people out for being overzealously critical isn't being hypocritical it's calling them out for poor behavior. You probably think Bobby McFerrin's lyrics are hypocritical.

1harris1

@Zott  Ha!  Yes.  Rico is a good commenter, but it's hard to call out the folks on this site for being too critical after tonight.  The Mets were positively brutal in this game.

I read a lot of blogs and many sports blogs . I've also been following this stuff and played my share. There is a group disfunction here. I'm not one fir rose colored glasses but the whining, blame and hate here is out of balance, as are people plsying fast and loose with simple facts.

1harris1
1harris1

@nncyel @Zott  Overzealously critical?  I don't see it man.  It's just baseball.  You have a few clowns out there, but the majority of folks on this site know what the story is with this team.

Well, we'll try and get em' tomorrow.  What else can you do?

rico
rico

I said i was not surprised tonight but i was last night. I still contend that 60% of the posters here just want to be critical, always. People bring their life misery here and tack onto the blame-receptacle du jour.

The good news is nobody is screaming for Wilmer tonight. He showed them

1harris1
1harris1

@rico  But it's really that way with any blog for any sports team imo.  When the team is winning, most on the site are happy.  When the team is losing, many get agitated and start whining. I really don't think it's anymore complicated than that.  Unfortunately the Mets have zero equity with the overwhelming majority of its fan base, given that the franchise hasn't finished north of .500 for the last five years and counting.  What do you expect?  People to be routinely cheery?

I'm not sure I understand why some get so upset when the team is criticized here.  It comes with the territory. It's a sports blog.  But maybe that's just me.

nncyel
nncyel

@1harris1 @nncyel @Zott I agree completely with your philosophy stated in the second paragraph. But I can't agree with you that's it's just a few people who don't share that philosophy and instead are indeed overzealously critical. The overall tone of this blog is relentlessly negative. I come here mostly to laugh at the absurd stuff some posters come up with. Once in a while one can have intelligent discourse, but most of the time it's trying to knock people in the head to try to get them to come to their senses. But too many have no common sense at all - certainly little baseball wisdom. The Mets win a game - hey we're World Series contenders; they lose the next one - the Mets are the worse team in the history of baseball; the manager's a buffon; the GM's a liar. No perspective.

rico
rico

@1harris1 I understand that it's an unhappy fan base. I am a fan too, that's why I come here. Im just saying that I read a lot of blogs and this is one that is off-the-charts-too-hate-ful. It's also mostly misinformed, people make up their own facts.

I think I can say that this is a blog where too many of the people come to be miserable and to channel  their personal unhappiness at all things mets. That is as worthy as discussing as 300,000 postings about hating the Gm, The Manager, the owners or underperforming players. My comment is that 60% of the fans who comment here are underperforming fans.

are you the Harris that writes for the Knicks blog?
