Mets played a good series...came real close to sweeping the braves in Atlanta

How about giving the manager a pat on the back. He doesn't look as stupid when guys get outs.

Thank god I logged out early and avoided all the cursing before the Mets amazingly turned this game around.

Wait are we still boycotting the team? I haven't seen anyone yelling it lately

At least the pitching isn't losing it for them in the early innings -- watching Mets pitchers stake the other team to a six run lead after four innings gets old fast.  Pelphrey used to drive me nuts with that.

anyone want to point out the fact the bp has not allowed a run in 5gms

Oh and I LOVE that they made a concerted effort to put pressure on Doumit...

Great win today, off topic Marlon Byrd is killing it this year lol.

Would've been understandable if the Mets had slinked away and hid after J Upton hit that moon shot (has it landed yet?)  kudos to them for overcoming Mejia's nonsense.  Great win, great series win.

There's Alotta sandy bashing, but hey so far colon farnsworth and valverde have been excellent moves gotta give him credit when deserved

murph, eric young and the bp won this game for us

@lindro88  The one thing he is doing right is the Challenges.  EY had a big night, which made it easier on him, though on a normal day i would still prefer Lagares leading off and Brown in there for more pop until CY comes back.

@George Coffin  Not the team, Citi.  none of the money in my pocket becomes money in the Wilpons' pockets...no matter how much Sandy tries to guilt us fans into coming to Queens

@Bob Primosch I've noticed our pitcher tend to do well in the early innings. Nothing is more demoralizing than a crooked number in the first

@nyjnym  Torres made the play of the game by letting it drop and getting 2.  Atlanta did nothing after this.

Byrd's a pro. Remember the anguish every day last season when Byrd would start instead of JV1. Looks pretty stupid now.

@Mets0987  He gets to hit in that bandbox. so that helps.  In an ideal world Byrd will have a continuation of last year....while the phils finish DFL

@Mets0987  good to see him doing well. i wish him the best, but even better phi is sucking it up.

@lindro88  That lagares hit with two outs to give us the  lead was quite big too

@lindro88  he should still go 2 the bench when CY comes back. 1 game does not make him better the juan

@Mike Dell Italia  Farnsworth looks like a totally different pitcher than ST.  His fastball is 7 MPH higher now. Valverde has had success in the league before and is pitching with a chip on his shoulder.  I like his energy.  I think it helps.

@Mike Dell Italia Its just frustrating to see him always trying to catch lightning in a bottle instead of signing more expensive, but very good players

@nyjnym  Remarkable that the 3-9 spots went a combined 3-27, the team had no homers (just a double and a triple), yet they plate 6 runs. But 15 baserunners will do the trick. Sandy's philosophy of OBP is not wrong- you win by getting guys on base and driving them in, and the only way those things are guaranteed are by drawing walks and hitting homers- no luck or defense is involved.

@lindro88  lol JV1 hasent even reported to the marlins yet... he's been having visa issues

Never said he's better than Juan. I'm talking about people asking for Brown to start. I even read "why not put Duda in left?" EY is a valuable player. Team started looking like a major leaguers when he showed up last yr.

And I assume that's not counting Thor or Montero, even...

@Thomas McKeever @Mike Dell Italia  Colon wasn't lightning in a bottle, he was a cy young candidate last year.

And it's hard to find good bullpen pitchers even if you're willing to pay a lot.

Mike Dell Italia

I totally agree. But to me that more on ownership. I always feel u gotta mix in everything, young players, big and medium free agents and scrap heap guys

lindro88

Not in the pen. The pen should be made up of young pitchers and cheap veterans. Giving older rp's big $ is a waste.

@thomas mckeever remember tho that's not on him that's the cheap wilpons

@Zach Ripple  sounds to me like the recipe for winning at Citi.  No long balls, just hit the ball in the gaps and run until you're tired.

@lindro88  Tonight he was valuable. He has way too many non-valuable days.  : \

I'm not suggesting play over Lagares. Not even suggesting he play over CY. Just saying he takes way more abuse than he deserves. He is a valuable part of this team.
