This team will get better eventually I think we need to wait it out. Everyone calm down

All prospects has an expiration date written in a stone , So Travis should start producing and blocking better behind the plate or Recker would eats his candies.

This absurd platooning will continue till mid May and I hope will end by that time. Ike is the Mets first baseman.

Ike starts tomorrow. So after the game, if he goes 0-4 with 3 ks. I hope I don't read one anti Ike Davis post.

Braves had a need and filled that hole the ASAP with the guy that shut us down tonight.

We have needs, and the pieces are out there.

I know Tejada has been ok so far, but Drew makes this whole lineup better.

Can someone remind TC that Duda is 2-13!!! since his miracle 2 HR game

ponzies86

TC thinks because duda is tall and big that he right away deserves a job in an everyday lineup SMFH open your eyes OLD MAN Duda is not a MLB player!

Kimbrel have saved a lot of games, like Papelbon, but for me is very hittable. That first strike to Tejada made the whole at bat for the Kid.

So, stephen Drew is still unemployed, wouldn't he take a pay cut at this point? And shouldn't the mets get on this to put pressure on Tejada to perform? Oh yeah we're the mets, let's just "wait and see" how TejSh#t plays out

Was I the only one who noticed a foreign substance on Kimbrel's hat ?--he kept reaching for it before each pitch--it was a dark circle on the rim--what the heck?Edit (in 5 minutes)

Duda goes 0-4 on Saturday but gets the start on Tuesday. Ike goes 2-4 on Sunday but get no start for the first 2 games of this series SMH

If I ever win the mega millions I will personally give the broke ass wilpons 20 million dollars so they could sign some players they actually need. Hopefully the new commissioner next year won't be buddy buddy with the wilpons and see what a disaster these cheaters have created in the biggest market in the united states

This is a game we wouldve won if Ike was in the dam Lineup, The guy wouldve smacked both those hanging sliders

Well, nice to see some fight in them. Wheeler just couldn't get it done tonight. 4 earned in 5 innings is not acceptable for a guy who wanted the ball Opening Day, and he knows that. Bounce back, ride some confidence from that inning into tomorrow and get the sweep. Tough first strike call on Tejada, and just missed that second pitch. Smart pitching by Kimbrel to not risk the wild pitch and throw heat against Tejada, who's not really known for a quick bat. Really would like to see Ike in the lineup, though.

Didn't have a lot of confidence in Tejada there. But it was a solid inning against one of the best closers in the game, just can't save it all until the end of the game.

That's a game you win if Morales and Drew are in your lineup instead of Duda and Tejada.

Give it up. Lol. They aren't spending anymore money. I wish they would, but it's not going to happen.

@Chapter 7  It's 358 to get it out to LF in Citi..not 310 like it is in Fenway.  Not 318 like at yankee stadium etc...But hey at least Drew is a career .264 hitter.  Wait, what?

I think Ike gets his shot in Anahiem, with the dh. And beyond.

@MUT 25 Xbox One  We don't need a weak bat as well, so Tejada is ok. We need a magr that takes decision, after Tejada struck out we didn't need a short stop.

@jimmybxnyc  so EVERYONE else in baseball who called him a future ace and high end prospect...THEY were wrong.  Ok thanks....

He's still young. Has good stuff.

@bingmets  If I ever win Mega i'm making the Wilpons an offer for the team..nice and public.  Make them explain why they won't sell.

@Ken Thall  yeah. the best reliever in baseball was having an off game and hanging pitches...

You are so FOS. If Ike struck out you'd be bitching about him. That's what you do.

I think Duda does nothing throughout the Anaheim series. Ike gets his shot after that.

How do you know? Did you expect TDA to rip a single? It's a baseball game.

DMMP
DMMP

@YouveGottaBelieve  Agreed.  Hell, you might have not even been in that situation if they were in your lineup due to the increased offensive potential of the lineup throughout the game and protection for other hitters in the lineup.

Chapter 7
Chapter 7

He hits a lot of doubles and triples.

YouveGottaBelieve
YouveGottaBelieve

@lindro88 You of course can't know for sure, but everybody except Duda and Tejada was taking great swings and ripping the ball against Kimbrel. Those two just looked lost.

DMMP
DMMP

@lindro88  I don't. It's a hypothetical situation that clearly is just speculation due to it NOT being the case.  However, generally better offensive players = a better lineup which = likely better production.

@jimmybxnyc @SuperDuper  Hunter pence 5 years/90million.  Tim Lincecum 2 years/35 million after two horrid seasons with and a 3rd on the way. perhaps they are a little little dumb. And as i recall, SF had a wealth of pitching in 2011 and was willing to mortgage the future (sort of...it's not like they pulled a AA) so they could make another deep playoff run.  Or maybe it had something to do with sabean and alderson's relationship. Quid pro quo, I give you an OFer  who will deliver a 920 OPS and a chance to win back to back titles if you give  me a pitcher that is 2 years away from the big leagues and may never actually get there at all.

Few teams worry about how a trade or signing will be judged down the road when they are in win now mode. The Mets farm system would be one of the worst in all of MLB without these kinds of trades.

DMMP
DMMP

@SuperDuper @DMMP @lindro88  As I think people have learned... Unless a player is hitting free agency (and sometimes not even... Here's to looking at Reyes) - Sandy doesn't trade players much.  Even when they should be traded.

DMMP
DMMP

@lindro88  I could totally see Wheeler becoming a closer.  Something is going to have to change eventually.  Thor is coming in the pipe.  Montero is coming...  And there's more depth behind that... Someone's going to the pen (or being traded.)

lindro88
lindro88

Mejia has more command, and looks like he has more confidence. Wheeler has a big arm. Maybe we are looking at a future closer. These guys aren't all going to wind up starters.

DMMP
DMMP

@Dee Rice  I agree with you here Dee.  They were doing nothing offensively until they went up against a pitcher who was clearly off on his game and throwing pitches to players where they should be able to hit them.  They were given gifts, and everyone except Duda and Ruben took advantage.  Ironically (or not, really) by far the two worst hitters in this lineup.

Dylan Ray Rice
Dylan Ray Rice

Nothing to say to the blind optimism you're spewing. A loss is a loss, they got lucky Kimbrel was off, walking the lead off batter, giving Wright the ball where he wants it down in the count. It says they can't score a run unless the pitcher gives them gifts.

DMMP
DMMP

@Ken Thall @DMMP  I'm an optimist... But I'm also a realist. It keeps me balanced. I know what I saw, and that's the facts.

lindro88
lindro88

You don't know anything. Who would bother writing, "I'm not sold on Wheeler, Duda, or Tejada". No one is sold on Duda or Tejada. If anything they are sold on the fact they aren't good major league players. As for Wheeler, none of us know what he will become.

ponzies86

@lindro88  I know more then you. I been advercating for IKE the whole time this season!!

Im not sold on Wheeler, Duda or Tejada.

You stick up for no one. You post non stop, and it's all bitching. Second guessing. You know nothing.

@ponzies86 @SuperDuper  Ike is also .500 against kimbrell career.  Vs. Duda who was .100 coming into the situation...
