Stop f'ing blaming the manager when major league players can't execute. He threw his whole pen tonight. They couldn't scratch a run across. This is how it's going to be. Win a game, lose a game. If you think it's Terry Collins fault you really should stop watching.

Forgot Familia's control problems Terry had him throw 8 straight balls it is damn hard to refind the strike zone after you do soemthhing like that

Terry Collins sucks. I understand walk the bases loaded in that situation...but leave Familia in when he has proven he cant throw a strike. What a bum!

Someone give the kid a break. He took one for the team tonight. No reliever should be asked to do what he did tonight, and Sandy's failure this offseason strikes again. Get Lannan off the team because he makes everyone worse. I hope that one of these days, when the Mets are getting blown out, Terry puts Lannan out there to throw 100+ pitches. What a joke.

Why he was out there for a third inning, I have no idea.  You have Lannan in the bullpen who is supposed to be the long man.  Whether you have faith in him or not, his job is supposed to be for games like this.  Thank you Terry Collins.

It was not that important to load the bases to have the force play at home. Walking Kendrick and setting up the DP possibility was enough

@Kyle Ely As much as the Marlin's owner is a scam artist and a fraud, they have ALWAYS had the knowhow to evaluate, draft and develop talent at ALL position, unlike the Mets. I'm not surprised at the Marlins as it just goes to show how really bad the Mets organization is really mismanaged.

What a bum asking a major league pitcher to be able to throw a strike. Would you have preferred John Lannan ?

@Richard Davis Agreed. Lannan shouldn't be on the team if you can't trust him enough to use him in this type of game. Familia was pushed too far.

@Richard Davis  Not his fault. He's been dealt a bad hand because he has to carry Lannan in the bullpen and we all know he can't get anyone out. He has to force Familia through this, no choice.

@Brian Webster @Sam Mack  How is TC an idiot... the players on his team are not performing because many of them are AAA players... that isn't his fault... we don't have the talent to be good

@lindro88  Plus the job as a MLB manager is knowing what your players still have in the tank. Familia has been set up since 2012 to be a reliever. He was approching 60 pitches and clearly was having problems finding the strike zone. Put Lanahan in and see what he has. If Collins thinks he can't be ASKED TO THROW A STRIKE BEING A MLB PLAYER...WTF IS HE STILL ON THE ROSTER FOR?

nymess

@Zach Ripple @Sean Andrew Ingram  this one is Terry's fault. you don't intentionally load the bases for a pitcher that's clearly having control problems. just a poor decision.

Richard Davis
Richard Davis

@YouveGottaBelieve @Richard Davis Bingo.  You've been grooming the kid for the last couple years to be a setup guy with an eye toward being a future closer.  Then, you suddenly say, "Hey kid, we want you to be the long guy"  Collins is bats***

Brian Webster

@Sean Andrew Ingram @lindro88 Cause Sandy put him on there. Basically just because he's LHP even though he's not a lefty specialist and never pitched out of the pen before since Edgin tanked so badly. Plus he's a vet and they couldn't risk him opting out and going somewhere else god forbid

Sean Andrew Ingram
Sean Andrew Ingram

@Zach Ripple @Sean Andrew Ingram  But you can manage by seeing that your pitcher was obviously tired and was having difficulty throwing strikes. That is why you MANAGE your players. Familia has been set up as a reliever since 2012...as a MANAGER you should know this. So you MANAGE the game accordingly. Familia was obviously tired and should NOT have been asked to go back out after pitching 2 innings.

Zach Ripple
Zach Ripple

@Sean Andrew Ingram @Zach Ripple  You can't manage with the expectation your pitcher won't get the guy out. It's why I disagree with playing an outfield "no doubles" defense. You don't play your whole outfield at the warning track just to prevent doubles and let all the bloop hits fall in. You can't manage with the expectations that your player will fail. That's how you set yourself up for failure.

Brian Webster
Brian Webster

@Zach Ripple @nymess Well I wouldn't say he's been awful overall. However he's definitely been hitting a wall after 90 pitches or so and giving up a bunch of runs then

nymess
nymess

@Zach Ripple  yeah, normally setting up the force is the play to make, but couldn't see it with Familia out there.

either way, the Mets bats didn't look like they would be capable of scoring another run regardless of how long it went. was a matter of a time.

Brian Webster
Brian Webster

@Zach Ripple Really? Cause everyone on here knew as soon as he did it that's what was going to happen. I don't remember the last time the Mets walked the bases loaded and that wasn't the end result

Zach Ripple
Zach Ripple

@nymess @Zach Ripple @Sean Andrew Ingram  No choice. If you don't set up the force at home, they can win on a weak grounder. You can't manage with the expectation your pitcher will walk in the run (or hit the batter in this case). Tough call for Terry, but I agree with his decision. Why don't we put the blame where it really belongs- on Dillon Gee???
