Mets are going to Colorado and Philly. If they don't hit on that trip, I'll be very surprised. Pitching is gonna be the key next week.

The problem is we have hitters looking to walk instead of hitting and are taking too close of pitches.

Pitch Wright up and in with hard stuff and low and away with breaking balls and he's meat. Has not adjusted to how their pitching him for 3 years now.

Face it. They have a minor league hitting team. No power what's so ever. You have to pay for those type hitters.

We gotta get em tmro. Anyone notice how over the past several years, Marlins catchers hurt us

Wright the slap hitter signed 7 more years, Grandy for 4 more years. That's almost half our payroll. Were screwrd.

Up 5-1 and the game was lost. No hits after the third inning and the game was lost. They lost because the so-called offense was horrid for the last 2/3 of the game.

well guys we are 13-11, I'll take it, tomorrow we need to win this series.

Can any Met starter go past the 6th?  One game, but I really thought Mejia was stepping up.  I am struggling to find players to get excited about on this team.  Frankly, they could dump almost everyone and I wouldn't care at all.

David wright doesn't scare anyone. A walk now a days is the best you can ask for.

I just have to add a comment because everybody else is commenting and no one is reading anyone else's comments.

When the opponent scores 5 runs or more the Mets are 0-34 in coming back. No offense.

Yes blame the ump for one of the worst hitting teams in baseball. No hits from the 6th inning on.

@Michael Palhares The problem is our batting coach has taught them a philosophy based around a passive approach at the plate. We stand around and watch more pitches than any other team, then we swing and miss at more pitches than any other team. Hence our awful team BA, team OB%, team SLG%, and overall offensive production. I am getting frustrated watching them take 3-1 pitches right up the middle of the plate.

And they should have pinch run for Duda last night. Although you've never said who should have run.

@Victor Triguero  You're dead on. Somehow when the team loses 7-6, that's on the offense. Maybe some decent pitching, especially when they had, what, a 4-run lead? Then they even came back and tied it when the Marlins took a one-run lead. Mejia flat-out stunk tonight in the sixth inning, bottom line. And Torres did him no favors either. Pitching is what wins games.

@Victor Triguero  By the way Victor, I apologize profusely for calling you relentlessly negative. Clearly I was wrong. And clearly I forgot about our friend eric88, who is indeed the most relentlessly negative poster on this blog.

So you want him tossed when the game might go longer? That figures because we want our manager in the clubhouse rather than the dugout.

@eric88  0-34? Over what period of time? Ever? Last season? The last 10 years?

Wright is streaky. He'll be fine. He's not a power guy anymore. This team sorely needs one

@philj  It doesn't matter, TC blew a 5-1 lead. Mejia was losing control in the 4th inning

@Michael Palhares  I didn't realize that no hits after the sixth inning discounts the 6 runs they put up earlier. My bad, thanks for clarifying.

@nymetsrule @Michael Palhares  I don't mind this strategy. It worked pretty well against the Cards. Some teams have really good pitchers and the only way to win is to wear the hell out of their pitchers. I prefer seeing EY getting 7 pitches out of the pitcher rather that a single on the first at bat.

@eavdr10  And to beat a dead horse, the guys on MLB TV were talking about what a stud Abreu is and will be for the White Sox.  I love that the Mets had to make up bad scouting reports about him to have an excuse for not making a run at him.  Meanwhile, he makes way less a year than Granderson.

Zach Ripple

@90wins  Yeah, Terry never should've thrown that cutter down the middle to Stanton. He really blew the game tonight.

@nncyel @nymetsrule  To be fair, the Chicago fanbase literally ruined a guy's life because he reached for a foul ball and may or may not have led to them missing the World Series. Even though it's a ludicrous belief. Do us all a favor and never compare us to Cubs fans. =) But seriously, I get what you're saying. I think some here may be a bit overdramatic. But I do understand what they're getting at. The Mets have drained a lot of people's patience, and every low point and every loss just feels like the thousands of ones we've gone through before. Sure, our lives aren't ruined. To be honest, I don't understand why rooting for a team and watching sports is exciting at all. Why do I care whether David Wright, a guy I've never met and really shouldn't care that much about, hits a homerun or makes a great play or strikes out? I don't know, but loving a team and rallying behind them is definitely incredibly rewarding, even when they do badly. I think we all just want to be here when they finally get that World Series, and I hope everyone on this blog and every Mets fan can enjoy it together!

@nncyel @nymetsruleI was a UConn student for the 2011 and 2014 championships. I am corrupted by the euphoria I felt when we won those years. We came off a 2013 ban and managed to rebuild the program in 10 months. Watching the Mets take years and years to rebuild after coming off the high of a national championship truly is unpleasant...

nncyel

@nymetsrule @nncyel  Oh I've read lots of inane posts and lots of banal rantings by juveniles - those indeed abound on this blog. But your lamenting the losing that the NY Mets baseball team has been engaged in recently as something to be utterly heartbroken over ranges over into the absurd. I applaud you for your passion, but you really need to get a grip and a perspective. The Cubs haven't even been to a WS in 70 years or something ridiculous like that. No one in Chicago is jumping off of bridges because that's the case.

Try to enjoy the competition between great athletes - it's entertaining no matter which team wins. Desire is the root of all suffering. Expectation is the root of all heartache. Whether you prefer the Buddhist perspective or William Shakespeare's take, it's a dictum we would all benefit to live by.

@nncyel If it is the most absurd post you've read you should stick around longer, Bob.

@nymetsrule @Victor Triguero @eric88  Oh my god, spare us the self-pity. It's baseball, man - a little diversion from life's struggles. Can you honestly tell me you weren't entertained by tonight's game even though the Mets lost? This is the most absurd post I've ever read on this blog. Lucky for you that almost everyone else has left and won't see it.

nymetsrule
nymetsrule

@Victor Triguero @eric88 The problem with this team is we have put up with years upon years of losing. There is only so long someone can take losing when all they want, all they demand, is win after win after win. It isn't our fault we are angry after losing. This franchise has absolutely tore our loyal hearts out. There are no "fake fans" left. They all left in 2009. What we have now are truly dedicated Mets fans who are absolutely heart broken.
