Is this that moment in Major League (the movie) where everyone turns to each and says... "you know, these guys might not be so F@ckin' bad.."  I think it might be.  Lol.

Hey Sandy, time to add some pieces. Give us a fighting chance at the WC

Mets can really ease into some lesser competition after this series against the Cardinals. If they are able to at least split, or even take 3 of 4, they will be in position to rack up some wins in a 15-game stretch where they only play Colorado, Philly and Miami, and then 4 against the Yankees, who are over-performing. Their starting pitching is not good at all. Nice chance coming up for the Mets to make some hay in the standings.

d'Arnaud starting to put some good swings together.

Solid win tonight! Mejia is looking good and we are staring to see d'Arnaud hit. All we need is Grandy to wake up and we will be okay.

So now we know that Tejada can make those kinds of plays. That's very encouraging.

Mejia continuing where he left off last season and the kid is younger then Harvey wow scary

Kyle in, Cartman out as closer.  Much more better.

10-9 is pretty damn impressive considering our schedule thus far. 90 wins may be a bit far fetched, but 500 ball is definitely attainable.

Unbelievable season so far from Mejia. So glad he got the call over Dice-K, as good as he looked in relief yesterday. He has been a bright spot in a season characterized by a lot of severe under-performances to date. Great defense, and they beat an excellent ballclub. Great night for D'Arnaud, and I hope it continues for him.

The Mets are 10-9 through the hardest stretch of the season for them...maybe things are not as bad they seem in Flushing

I dont say it often about the Mets.  But that was an impressive win.  Against a quality playoff team from last year....

CRISP! Best defensive game they've played in a long time.

Put it in the books!!!! Our lack of offense still scares me but I'll take it! Mejia was beastly tonight!

Dare I say it, but Murphy has been a plus-defender at second base this season, outside of a couple of hiccups very early. He was great against Arizona, and he has been excellent at turning the double play. I never remember the Mets turning so many 5-4-3 double plays as they have this season. Everyone on the infield has been excellent when it comes to turning two. It's been a pleasant development to watch.

Second half is a breeze too.

I keep forgetting this, but we've had one of the toughest schedules thus far in baseball. The fact that we're hanging in there is really, really promising.

Agree. I can live with him if he plays defense like that. He saved the game for us tonight.

@ponzies86  Mejia has nasty stuff.  With him healthy our rotation next season is just scary.

Big time. Mejia is younger than Harvey. He's polished. Carved up a good lineup tonight.

Glad we didnt trade him like so many on here wanted. I can't comprehend how that's a good idea in any way.

@whyus  i feel pretty confident that we wont suck this year (78 + wins)

@buddyryan  I wouldn't be against signing him either. Tejada plays above average D but his hitting is just atrocious.

lindro88

I wouldn't be against it, but I have to admit, seeing Tejada making plays like tonight make me feel much better. He's not gonna hit much, but the D is a must

lindro88

Last yr the D was also terrible. He made the biggest plays of the game. Especially the first one. Last year those are both base hits.
