As crazy as this sounds, the Mets are only 6 games out of the wild card, and if they sweep the Braves, they will be only 4 games out of wild card, depending of course what the Giants do.  But the point is that the Mets are still in this thing and with their pitching and pen it would not be completely unrealistic to think they have a run in them!

im not saying murphy is untouchable but we better get some more offensive players before we get rid of him, im not convinced yet that flores can give us same production that murphy  can and really don t want to wait and find out

i did not see game but you want to gid rid of murphy cause flores turns a  dp better, i like flores he should be the ss instead of tejada, but we cant murphy he is by far our best hitter

Good job of hitting by Lagares and Tejada tonight. Leave to the haters to turn a blind eye to the better ss. Life goes on.

WHEN DOES MEJIA LEARN NOT TO THROW A STRIKE ON AN 0-2 PITCH

If Wright is that bad..they should shut him down and let Flores play 3b everyday  for the rest of the season. or split him time in between 2b and 3b....I know some like soup ..but he is 27 yrs old and is unlikely to develop the way Flores could.

Here comes Mejia. Cross fingers moment

Braves broadcasters saying TC told reporters team interested in moving in RCF wall so Grandy can hit 25 HR again! Seems like odd move by ownership for aging player here for 3 more years (or fewer)

@George Komninakis George, I hope your right but it seems to be pushing it. There are still a lot of flaws in this team.

See here is my problem with many fellow Mets fans. We lose 2 in a row, we are out of it, the season is over. We win 2 in a row and once again there is discussion about the Wild Card. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's just not going to happen. This team is in no way, ready for October baseball. I would love more than anything to agree with you. I am so sick of this team losing. But seriously? Come on. You know that feeling you get with a winning team? Think 06, 07. You just don't get that with this team. Not even close. And I may get bashed on for not having faith in my team, but if we lose the next two games, no one will speak of the Wild Card anymore. Talk to me next year. Hopefully Wright and Granderson turn it around (Although I really have my doubts for both, sorry), Wheeler, Duda, and Murph continue to perform, Harvey and Parnell return strong, Syndergaard and Montero get called up and perform, we pick up another bat or two for shortstop and the outfield and closer/reliever, and no devastating injuries. Still alot of question marks but I really feel that 2015 not 2014 is THE year for the front office. What other excuse do they have?

And that .221 average? Who needs Murphy?

Shame he can't hit. Guess your fantasy is just that.

Could Murph turn a DP that well?

He's got some swagger. He goes after their cleanup hitter with heat 0-2. Uptown is no bum... Much rather have him going after people

@ponzies86 we've been crossing our fingers with every closer since Tug McGraw

@Cheryl Ann I was going to say why would TC say something like that. Then I thought for a minute..this is TC. Nevermind

Good god. I'd rather they move the fences back, so he can hit 20 triples like he did in Detroit (which is impossible)

@theglider

"Can he hit?"

"Nope, but he sure can turn a double-play!"

"That's clutch! He's our starter!"

@theglider  Made a nice turn with a DP there in the 9th.  I thought he couldn't play defense?

No hate. Tell me why we should replace our best hitter with someone batting 80 points lower.

Shhh. They've never recovered from losing their beloved Valdespin.

@theglider Because that's what Jimmy wants. If it doesn't happen, he'll pout.

Just check out his pouty response below.

@Tormented Mets Fan He wasn't at short, so that's a moot point. Just looking for something to rip? A real fan.

That still doesn't answer the issue. Why should a .221 hitter who has never shown any ability to hit replace a lifetime .292 hitter?
