I was half expecting Todd Pratt to run out to tackle Brown before he got to first!

This Brown kid has been mostly forgotten since joining us last year. But he's a very nice player.

Brown is also having a nice spring training. Nice walk-off hit for the W.

Most mistakes today I can handle in spring training. But d'Arnaud's baserunning blunder still sticks in my craw. Catchers are supposed to know the game better than most. Standing on 2nd, 2nd & 3rd, 1 out. Slow ground ball to 3rd, obvious on-contact play at the plate. d'A takes his lead, stops as it the 3rd baseman takes the ball in the hole & heads home for a tag play. The SECOND that throw is committed to, d'A HAD to be on his way to 3rd! Sure enough, the very next play he could have scored on a wild pitch had he been on 3rd. Bush.

And that is how u make the play in the hole. That's an arm that tejada doesn't have. Take notes Terry there's your ss

Woooo, Flores looking good on the backhand stab and strong throw to first! got a smile on my face after seeing that play...really want to see this kid in the lineup.

I'm not able to watch. How's Flores doing? Can he at least make all of the routine plays?

The Metsblog in mid season form.   Why do some of you bother? If you can be upset by a game March 18, you need to serious help.

Chris Young looks very comfortable batting in front of David.

This will be the last time Teuff is on the mic with Dice-K pitching...

flores should be the SS based solely on the fact that this team needs offense and tejada sucks defensivley too so why not just go with the better hitters since the mets are too cheap to sign stephen drew

why does Keith continue to question Flores's arm? it's his range that's the question mark, not his arm.

Watching the middle of the infield today should be very interesting.

Tejada has been nothing short of a disaster offensively and defensively, Flores may actually have a shot at winning the job.

The Ike and Duda situation (and im a big Ike supporter) has been comical, I think Murphy at first is not a horrible idea; so EY needs to show he can handle 2b.

I also love the defense in the outfield, Lagares should be out there everyday

@metjetnet  maybe in little league.  This is the Majors and d'Arnaud doesn't have that type of speed.  I believe he made the right play.

@Chapter 7  Just made an outstanding play going to opposite side and gunning the runner out at 1st.

@Chapter 7 he's made the routine plays (just made one as I type this), but messed up the exchange on a double player earlier...he kinda stumbled over his own feet/the bag, and never released the ball for the throw to first. it was a play that has to be made.

@lindro88  It isn't win or lose it is the way they play. That is the problem with Terry he lets bonehead plays happen and when we win he says winning is what counts. But it leads to tremendous losing streaks and bad play catches up.

@ponzies86 Den Deckker is awful. I imagine people don't come to you for intelligent baseball talk.

all it would take is:

Travis d'Arnaud

2 of - Harvey, Wheeler,Thor

and 1 or 2 of - Mejia, Montero, Matz, etc.

but hey we wouldn't have to worry about 1B for the next 5 years or so

What trades has Sandy ever made that lead you to believe he can acquire a superstar like MC?

@nymess  Keith spend most of his career catching balls thrown by all-field, no-hit shortstops.  He's typecasting.

Mike Dell Italia

@Dr. James DiTuna  i agree the infatuation is ridiculous.  I don't want tejeda as my shortstop at all and neither do most mets fans, so there basically calling for a young guy who has hit in the minors to be in majors, which i am guilty of myself.  But like u said he's has done nothing in the majors to prove he's a good hitter let alone play shortstop from a defensive stand point.  Im all for giving flores a shot anywhere on the diamond, bc you never know he could be good, but the all out screaming for this guy to be the shortstop like its a no-brainer is very comical.

72tilltc

@Dr. James DiTuna  Too Stupid to respond to. Look at his stats as an every day player. Or look at last years spring when he played the first 2 week while the regs were sitting.

Andrew LaForge
Andrew LaForge

@Dr. James DiTuna Really you are going to base whether Flores can play in the majors off of 95 AB? And spring training? Is he the ideal SS, no maybe not, but if you can get better offensive output from Flores and a decent glove, you could live with that especially over Tejada.

nncyel
nncyel

@Dr. James DiTuna The appropriate expression is "Familiarity Breeds Contempt". Flores is a better hitter than Tejada, based on minor league stats and one's eyeballs. Tejada a better fielder, but Tejada isn't Ozzie Smith either. Flores wasn't impressive with the big club last year, but he'd almost certainly be better this year. But, the answer is, No - he's not an ideal solution at shortstop. And long term they need a solution that is either the development of a minor league player, trade or free-agent signing. I don't think either Tejada or Flores will be playing SS for this club in 2015 and beyond.

@Joseph DeFazio @metjetnet Sorry, Joseph, it clearly was going to be a slide / tag play at the plate. No catcher gets up from that & still makes a play at third.

^thanks guys. I've yet to see him play SS. I know he's gonna hit. He just has to make ALL the plus he can get to.
