I love Vic Blacks quote that David Wright told him to throw strikes because the only way that the Padres could get on base was by walking since they can't hit. I'm guessing that quote will find its way to the Padres, not that it makes much difference. Happy Fathers Day.

I think the point is, the Wilpons' actions have been so questionable since they took over the team that you have to wonder if they're really absolute morons, or are they up to something.

hypothetical.. if the Mets moved and took the name and a new nl team came to ny. who would you root for? mets or new? if the current mets moved but mets name was kept in ny would that change your allegiance

Ike Davis     240/5/22

Lucas Duda  240/8/32

Not a huge Duda fan, but he hits in a bigger ballpark and in a more stressful environment than Pitt...it wasnt the wrong move..Ike just isnt very good

It's amazing how much the fans and media need to twist the wilpons arms to make them spend any sort of money.. hopefully we get a tighter squeeze

Granderson is a great signing as a complimentary guy, our problem is he was our main signing.. we need a legit cleanup hitter

lowest 10 have protected draft pick. how many teams have worse record?

Vegas is such a bad place to have a triple a team. All numbers are padded there cuz of thin air then they come here and can't do anything. Andrew brown had 15 home runs in the span from when he went down to when he came back up. He simply wouldn't do that anywhere else..TDA has 4 home runs there this week and then will come back up and be brutal again. The team should look into moving the triple a team again

do we want to finish in last and beat the Phillies for draft pick or beat the Phillies in the division

Pretty sure the Padres were telling their pitchers the same about us.

@bptomatoes Depends who the new owner is, but still probably not.. your team is your team, if I could just switch to a better franchise I would have already

@mi As much as we hate bud for being buddy buddy with the wilpons, their is no way he'd like a franchise leave a great market like NY for a market that already failed

@mi  Maybe you moving to Montreal would be better !

I thought that was supposed to be Wright? Not so far.

@Chris Lyons Agreed. The dessert air certainly inflates things like SLG% but I think the real disservice to hitters is the way the air dilutes the break of a pitch. Batters not end up adjusting their approach to accommodate things like 90 mph sinkers that stay level, curveballs without bite, and 95 mph 4 seamers that can be hit over the wall without hitting it square. Add it all up and you are left with underdeveloped players destined to fail.

@bptomatoes draft pick, it doesn't matter if we win 68 games or 72.  Win 68 and get the better draft pick.

if the new franchise was called the mets with all new players but retained the history most would not follow the current team. imo.like the Browns kept name in Cleveland

@Steven Glansberg @bptomatoes However, history shows us that Dodger and Giant fans were so hurt by those teams leaving New York that many of their fans did root for the Mets, when they arrived.

@Steven Glansberg @mi Somewhere, Bud was once quoted as saying that the 2000 Subway World Series was great for NYC, but awful for baseball.

@John Plain Wright has never been and never will be a 4 hitter.. if we had a goldschmidt or freedman batting behind him I guarantee he'd be having a better year

@Steven Glansberg @Chris Lyons  Mets have to wait for a Triple A slot to open up in order to move there.  It does not happen that easily.  The  Mets moved from Buffalo to Las Vegas because the only other opening was in Oklahoma which was worse.

Steven Glansberg
Steven Glansberg

@bptomatoes Why would they move the mets to montreal, then create a new mets team in NY? that makes no sense lol, jsut keep the mets in NY and make another franchise move

Steven Glansberg
Steven Glansberg

@John Plain If any franchise would move to montreal it would be the rays.. AL east team, with no fan support even with winning

bptomatoes
bptomatoes

wilpons may want to move like giant s and Dodgers

even if the name and history remain in ny

They're not going from the top market to a market that doesn't show up in the ratings.

Steven Glansberg
Steven Glansberg

@bptomatoes Wilpons want the mets to be the dodgers, they love NY NL baseball, montreal or somewhere else doesn't hold weight for them

Doubleday
Doubleday

@Steven Glansberg @Doubleday @bptomatoes Did it make sense to move the Brewers to the NL only to create a disparity that had to be rectified with the Astros moving to the AL?  No.  But it served Bud's purpose to create the Milwaukee-Cubs rivalry he lost when his childhood Braves skipped Brewtown for Atlanta.  It's all been self-serving.
