U guys know Flores batting 200 last year and his batting like 60 this spring training, I don't get the obsession I know tejeda sucks but i jus don't see Flores hitting either plus he can't really field the position

Jacob deGrom seemingly pitched well today, and has looked good thus far this spring.  I wonder if Alderson will give him a legitimate chance to grab a bullpen spot.  It wouldn't seem like there's really much more he could accomplish in Triple A, and he doesn't seem to be considered as an elite prospect that would concern management about his "super two" status.  Looks to have a really good arm though.

btw Scott Kazmir pitched three scoreless innings against Arizona today. Remember him?

TC will always play marginal Vets over very highly rated prospects.

Who the heck is 'M. Clark' with the 2 rbi's. He pinch-hit.

I wonder whats going to happen with Gee this season after Montero and Noah comes up in the middle of the season

The Mets and Cubs are playing split-squad games out here in Vegas next weekend and are charging $40-$70 a ticket... for $40 "fans" have the privilege of watching half the team - with no guarantee of any of the players people want to see IE. Wright, Grandy, Wheeler, etc...- of sitting on grass beyond the outfield walls which are probably 20 feet high and at least 400 feet away from the batter.. Yet for about $13 we can see most of these same players all season long in the shade right behind home plate...unbelievably horrible treatment of the "fans"

Puello looks like a beast. Kid can hit for sure, as long as he can hold his own in the outfield he could be a dangerous hitter in this line-up.

Someone give me the 411 on this game? How was Noah today and whats the score? Thanks...

Lagares continues to hit. Good to see. Kid better be in CF when the season begins.

Is there anywhere I can hear this on the radio or online?

Very strange that everyone, both teams, is swinging at the first pitch. Are they expecting bad weather or something?

On a side note: watching the NYY game on the MLB Network and one of their Killer B's got lit up....watching that happen made me realize two things...1- when it comes to prospects you trade'em while their stock is high..2- I loved watching the Yankees once upon a prospect get lit up!

If lagares is not the opening day C.F. then he was never considered for the Job at all....the only question for him is if he can hit and he has been the most consistent hitter this spring

Anything an up grade over that bum

The people here take whatever they hear on SNY and this shill blog as gospel. The overrating of talent in NY is amazing. 3/4 of this team wouldn't make most rosters in MLB that aren't in the bottom 7 in payroll

@Mike Dell Italia  had 9 rbis in his first week and then broke his ankle, batted .320 in vegas and had 80 rbis with only 16 home runs. tejada 10 rbis ALL SEASON last year.

@hankypanky Matt Clark. FA pick up. Played in Japan last year. I like him so far... Probably LV bound... Some pop. Nice fielder at 1b.

@ponzies86  Nevermind Gee, what about Colon and Niese. If we are ever ready to win you need a bulldog like Gee not a soft pitcher like Niese.

@Doug Hoey  For the level of performance the Mets have had the nerve to charge the second highest ticket in MLB.It's like another ponzi scheme.

@Doug Hoey Wright is a guarantee, it was part of the deal.

@Brandon Lee Well he saw a 1-2 Fastball accorrding to twitter. Something when the live season start he probably would have been balls in the dirt which he chases.

He can stick in OF and his defense is very strong. He can hang in CF, and has a really strong arm to play in RF.

@mikerolli HA... I don't get why they don't show these games. There is nothing happening this sat to compete against. THrow the game on over drexel vs northwestern

@ponzies86 Walks n Ks for Thor. 3 of each. 2 walks in the second inning cost him his 2 runs. Pitched 3 innings total. DeGrom looked great. Lagares is 2-3 and just got taken out for Nimmo. Flores still only has 1 hit this spring. Mets are down 2-1 though have had more traffic on the bases since early on. Lot of swinging early in counts. uh...all I got.

crafalko17

@William Bonilla And he hit in the Winter League too. He has a nice natural swing to RF, if he can figure out the inside part of the plate he'll be more than fine.

@dannym28 @Mike Dell Italia First off hitting well in Vegas means nothing to me.  All bc you hit in the minor league doesn't mean your gonna hit in the majors.  Listen you never know he could be good, but i just don't get the obsession.  You would think this kid has proven something in majors, he hasn't.  So far he's been horrible actually.  This team needs a real ss, I'm sick of playing people out of position.  GET A REAL SHORTSTOP.  If ike and Duda don't work out then flores is my first choice to get a shot there.

Ed Yano

Maybe he is playing him at a comfortable def position to try and get him to start hitting.

Teams only show their home games. I think MLB.TV shows the away feed.

Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly

@crafalko17 @William BonillaHard to say, he never really hit STRONGLY in the minors. If his defense stays GG caliper like it was last year you can carry a .280-300 light hitting CF.

dannym28
dannym28

@Mike Dell Italia  not really an obsession rather than seeing someone not named ruben tejada at short. believe me tejada stunk up in vegas too

metstastic

A lot of minor leaguers do, but then they get reduced to jello when they get a breaking ball. It's what happened to Ike. ML pitchers with better control will throw him a steady stream of breaking balls.

@Mark Kelly @Ian Carvalho@mikerolli You might not see this but usually the parks they play in do not have room for 2 television crews. So home team gets the right to broadcast it to their market. Also taking apart the broadcast equipment and then setting it up again on a day to day basis would be a pain in the butt since it's not 2-3 game series like in the season.

I wonder if the same people who were ready to discount Lanan and Dice K after yesterday, will decide NS is a bust. Lol. Some of the posts on here after each early March game are pathetic.

I don't think he even has to do that much. If he can somehow be a 260 / 340 Obp guy with 15 homers he is an absolute keeper.

Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly

@crafalko17 @Mark Kelly@William Bonilla Yeah... he has to hit .280-.300. He doesn't really steal bases, he doesn't really hit for power and he doesn't get on base a lot.

So he needs to continue to showcase his ++++++ Defense and if he can piece together enough offensively i'd be ecstatic.
