Not that they would trade him or the mets would or should trade the farm for him, but a guy like Tulo would be the perfect fit for the Mets that would gel together this line-up and most likely get much better production throughout our line-up.   Now i know Tulo is never happening, but i main pt i guess is we need that type of hitter and preferably from the right side of the plate.  the problem is..i can't find anyone,(one that would be available)!

Sortable MLB stats at the 1/3 point in the season:

Mets lead NL in AB's

Mets lead the NL in batters striking out

Mets lead the NL in batters walking

Mets LAST in slugging %

Mets next to last in NL in HR's

Mets in middle of pack in all pitching categories

If Lagares goes on the DL, they MUST bring up Puello. They need offense and looking at him in spring training, he is better than what we have now.

I wish that I could be more excited for these wins, but all they do is provide more impetus for the Mets front office to say how much we are improving and do nothing about our still putrid offense.

Pen's been great, starters have been great but imagine having to watch CY another 2/3 of a season and Grandy (perish the thought) another 3 plus years. Granderson never alters his swing. He's a groove hitter and if the ball doesn't some how find his bat it's another swing and miss and you could suit up 60 year old Dave Kingman right now and he'd probably give you 12 homers and 240 strikeouts. And these were Alderson's two big off season acquisitions and that's what you're going to get with them: Poke and Hope. He could have gotten Kingman for nothing. With this pitching the team could be great right now with any semblance of offense.

Chili Davis is the guy Mets should hire as batting coach. His guys have a plan.

If only lucas was an aggressive hitter all the time he'd be a good one, it's just not in his physique.. So instead we get teased with these glimpses of awesome moments, but nothing that is ever consistent.. hopefully with hudgy gone he can finally be encouraged to be more aggressive

It's such a shame that these owners are so cheap. With two more big bats this team really could be dangerous.

They're not taking enough pitches. Obviously that's the problem ;)

@cleonsvan he's not coming up. he's having a terrible season and been seeing plenty of time on the bench in AAA. it's becoming clear that the team is not as high on him as we had hoped.

@cleonsvan Does Puello cover as much ground in the OF as say, denDekker or Nieuwenhuis? I'd rather not see CY in CF because of the defense we lose without Lagares. dD or Captain Kirk can cover some ground. Does Puello provide the same?

@sayhey24  You had to leap for joy when Duda hit that ball. How can you not?

cleonsvan

@sayhey24  Sandy is putrid, Collins is putrid, the only thing not putrid is their pitching and center fielder who is going on the DL.

We could have gotten Byrd for 2/16 with Colon and still be better off. I just don't understand why they didn't sign him. He was a good guy in the clubhouse. Was it because he didn't measure up to their hitting approach? Sandy said if you don't follow our approach you won't be on the team.

Just beating on Jarrod Weaver.

Remember what you said this team will never get close to500 again.

@Steven Glansberg An aggressive hitter is usually not a very good hitter. A relaxed  and focused hitter is what you want.

@Nick Congello  They could've had those bats with the money they did spend this offseason. They just spent the money on the wrong guys

Odeda might be confusing today's players with Yogi Berra, who actually stepped out of the batter's box and slugged a HR.

@illnagas It's interesting that a team with a lot of guys who strike out a lot also take a lot of pitches. If they struck out a lot but also hit a lot of HR's, one could understand that.

@CocoaBeachnut @cleonsvan  He is not a CF. We need a bat. That is the point. Enough with the AAA players--time to let your prospect show something. Young and Grandy are fine for defense.

@oldrockingguy @Steven Matregrano  If Wright didn't get a hit last night, it would have been very bad for him. He was facing a tired lefty whose fastball was down a few mph. If he doesn't come through in that spot, he never will.

Yea,but not 1a month.

@cleonsvan What IS there approach? Swing and miss?

At this point Campbell wouldn't even be a minus compared to Murphy (who's slumping) and id rather get it over with than weaken lineup 2 days in a row. Even more so with colon, with the way he's been pitching. He's basically been lights out or terrible, so it almost doesn't matter whether they score 2 or 4.

Nick Congello
Nick Congello

That's definitely true but they didn't think Cruz would sign for so cheap. They can trade from their abundance of pitchers to get those bats. I would keep wheeler deGrom syndergaard and see what the rest can get you.

@CocoaBeachnut @cleonsvan  Young is God-awful. How this guy can translate into Sandy's hitting approach is beyond me. He limits himself to everything from the shortstop to the left field line. Terrible.
