Well I'm done for today.. have a nice rest-of-the-weekend everyone.  Remember, ever new day is another chance to have a new manager.

EY jr playing everyday while hitting a weak .221 is just to make guys like Grandy .190,  and CY .211   feel better about themselves..it was tough on them to watch Lagares hit .300

Terrance Stamp should buy this team.

That double by Duda bought him another unwatchable month as the "big power hitter first baseman".

This team had no talent. Yet we're playing about .500. That is hard to believe. Talent is what makes winning teams. We have none.

The Mets should retire both 74 and 88 in honor of Terry Collins.

. . . the tedious death march through another 74-88 season is well underway.

Tejada played wonderfully today!  Looking forward to seeing more of him tomorrow along with his friends Duda & Chris Young.  We've got the team work to make the dream work!

Is that first actor in the FIOS commercial a guy or girl?

Our catchers are hitting less than .200. Our first baseman us hitting .240. Shortstops are less than .200. Right and left field less than .200. Our pitchers hit nothing.

Our bullpen has been a mess. Our rotation has been spotty at best. Yet we compete.

Granted the division has been mediocre but we're close to .500. With our lack of talent that's remarkable.

Yeah... the Nats pen is great.  It's not like they were facing 1/2 a AAA team or anything.

Now he PHs for Tejada?

@JimmyFromDBX

He needs to be traded,Citifeild is screwing with  his head

This could go down as one of the Mets worse contract.

Calm down. It's not like the tying run was on base, and he already reached base 3 times in the game

Who else would you play against a righty?

@jlga  It just further serves to illuminate the fact that Sandy is a genius.

Will that bring in talent?? If not then why?

@Michelle Sparno We can only hope. Unfortunately, we'll be stuck with the Won'tpons for the forseeable future.

@Andrew Sodergren In case you're curious, KFC stock shot up this morning. Rumor has it Bartolo hit six of them last night.

And yet everyone in here blames the manager. We gave no talent. None.

Cut him some slack. He's been sitting around a lot lately thanks to an incompetent manager.

Come on, he had one fluke game. I thought he looked slow today.

Against righties Duda gets on base. And I'm sure you weren't excited when his defense won the game the other night. He's no good until he's good.

@jlga Flores, Murphy, Ike Davis, Morales is still a FA etc..

I'd rather see Julio Franco.

Leif Granlind

I like those numbers because of his limited playing time. I like his swing. Duda is unwatchable.

He's hitting .200 against righties. He's 4-6 against lefties.

You'd play the rookie against a top righty??

You gotta reward Campbell after the game on Saturday. Give him a shot.

Who? You're quick to criticize. With our roster who would you play?

@jlga  The problem is the ownership. If they're not fixing that,  Mets won't win anything. The next problem is the Mets play really hard every year for a third of the year-and then are beaten down by lack of talent, injuries, etc. and then they succumb to the losing atmosphere  2/3 into the season.

Have to have more talent and they won't pay for it.

@alphamet @Andrew Sodergren@jlgaCollins keeps his job because he is a yes-man for Sandy. I'm sure they were playing Chris Young over Lagares for financial reasons. They want to get him going so hopefully they can get something for him later and that $7 million isn't a sunk cost. The whole Tejada-Flores deal makes no sense to me. I'm not going to say Flores is a savior. In fact, it's likely (given the fact they moved him off shortstop before) that he won't be able to be an everyday shortstop in the bigs. But just why is the kid on the team if he's not playing every day (or at least much more than he has been)? Let him go back to AAA to get his ABs and bring up a lesser prospect like Tovar or Muno to be the backup middle infielder. But lineup questions aside, I just don't like Collins' in-game skills. Anybody could have told you in that Marlins game that Dice-K had nothing. He was walking the park and when he wasn't doing that, he was giving up bullets. That loss was on him. Same thing with the game in Colorado, letting Mejia get rocked. Just not a fan of the guy, but we're stuck with him....

Andrew Sodergren

@alphamet @jlgaMaddon is example No. 1 of a manager that gets every last drop out of his players. Bob Melvin is another, you know, the guy they could have had instead of Collins.

jlga

No, talent sets the tone.

Joe Torre is going to the Hall of Dame as a Yankee. Was he a lesser manager with the Dodgers? No. He just had talent with the Yanks. Bobby Cox was a better manager when he had Maddux and Glavine and Smoltz. Because he had talent.

@coldblue @Andrew SodergrenYeah as in 'won't invest anything into the team.' I think the main reason so many are going off on Tejada lately (and I will admit, I've done it as well) is more frustration for this awful ownership and the front office that does their bidding. You could live with a guy like Tejada occupying the eighth spot if the rest of your team is loaded with studs, but unfortunately, that's not happening with this financially strapped group. And when they do spend money, they tend to go for the past their prime types like Granderson and Colon and won't roll the dice on the Jose Abreus of the world. All winter, one of their main goals was to address the shortstop situation, yet they never did. They came into the season with the same craptastic duo of Tejada/Quintanilla yet again. To me, Tejada profiles best as a utility infielder. He makes contact, fields marginally well, but doesn't offer much in the way of power or speed. If he's not hitting for average, he's a complete minus offensively. Problem is, Mets lineup carries far too many below-average major-league players.
