Plug in Murphy at 2b and get Legares regular reps and I'm fine with this lineup. Really pulling for Ike. Hope he comes out if the box like he did in 2011 before the injury.

How do you keep a bat like Flores' out of the line-up? Play the kid.

A win a day keeps the whiners away. Hope they stay on the other blog.

Ike homerun and hits yesterday is very encouraging. I hope he keeps this up. Cheering for him!

I don't see how Duda is even on the same playing field if Ike hits like he can. All Duda does is look for walks and hits a HR once in a while with nobody on base. Also, ike is much better defensively at 1B. Ike's upside is a lot better than Dudas!

If Ike, Young, Granderson and Wright can produce consistently also D'arnaud, then I can see this team winning over 80 games this year

Nice to see power from Wilmer and Travis today.

It feels like they simply don't think he can play the SS position or he would be starting there. At the very least Tejada will start the season at SS and Flores will be in AAA. IF they think he can still be a SS he will be playing there. If not we will see him at 3B/2B maybe some 1B at AA.

After watching him play he really is slow footed, I don't think he can handle the position defensively. How many times can you think of a player being moved off of a position because they can't play it and then they are able to return to that position later in their career. It doesn't happen and I honestly think the whole experiment was all smoke and mirrors. Last season we weren't even sure if he could play 2B and suddenly they think he could be a viable option at SS? Give me a break.

the youngins showing some pop! Flores with a 3-run shot, D'Arnaud with a 2 run homer. Flores producing 3 runs with one swing, something Tejada can't do. Start the man at short, please!

Flores gives you power and RT doesn't. Play Flores if not willing to sign Drew or make a trade.

@Chapter 7 Thinking the same thing. Line up actually looks pretty good if you plug in Murph and Lagares and everyone plays up to their potential...big if but at least there is hope

@doubleday Perhaps when you don't have a position to play him. If he can prove he can play SS defensively he will play there if Tejada plays like he did last year. If he can't, and that seems likely based on his minor league performance, then he's not going to play because SS is first and foremost a defensive position. Hopefully his defense has improved over his minor league performance which prompted the team to move him off SS. I agree the lineup could use his bat, but not at the cost of poor defense at SS.

If David Wright goes down with an injury, Flores will immediately replace him at third because that's his most appropriate defensive position. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

@Evander Smart  his spring training numbers have always been very good, but let's hope it holds up.

@The Feels TdA especially, people got down on him so fast after his struggles last season. It was unbelievable. Wanting them to trade him and bring up Plawecki who had barely touched AA.

@crafalko17  I think the radio team said it best. Flores isn't winning any gold gloves at short I think we can all agree on that but if he can make the play that is routine and not make any huge mistakes why not just play him there. His bat will make up for it cause the boy can flat out hit. He turned on a 101mph fast ball and pulled it. Just think how the offense will be with him raking at SS. This team looks to be starting to put things together. i hope.

@Mets0987  swap Tejada with Flores and that's a respectable lineup.

At least a fun team to watch. That's all we can ask for

I think Wilmer is proving he can handle SS. Especially with all the fly ball pitchers in our rotation.

@Victor TrigueroThere are reasonable ways to express that frustration and there is over the top whinging and whining. Here's just one example. Sandy Alderson has been called a "moron" on this blog on numerous occasions by numerous posters. This is a man who has been the general manager of a team that has won the WS. His recent record has not been so stellar, but in both cases he was/is the GM of a team that had been directed by ownership to drastically slash payroll. It's not very easy to slash payroll, rebuild a farm system and win, all at the same time. Yet he is called a "moron". I don't believe there is a single poster on this blog who has the baseball knowledge and experience of Sandy Alderson, including myself. Disagreeing with moves he may or may not make and suggesting alternatives is reasonable. Calling him a "moron" is not.

It's also very telling that some of the primary culprits disappear when the Mets win and their favorite whipping boys are playing well. It seems, and I could be wrong, but it seems that these posters are actually happier when the Mets are losing and players are failing than when they are successful. There's a pyschological explanation for this phenomenon: Being miserable can give the impression that you’re a wise and worldly person, especially if you’re miserable not just about your life, but about society in general. You can project an aura of someone burdened by a form of profound, tragic, existential knowledge that happy, shallow people can’t possibly appreciate. Sound like some Mets fans posting on this blog? Yes, I think so.

@Victor Triguero True, but if you go back two years the players we want replaced were the ones we thought we could rely on moving into the future. I am willing to give it one last go with Ike, I still am very skeptical about whether Flores can handle SS, but either him or RT has a lot to prove as well. This has the potential to be a good season though, even without Niese I have faith in our rotation, our bullpen is actually pretty deep, and the lineup feels much improved if you compare this year to last year. I mean last year Ike was our 4-hitter, now he is more our 6 or 7.

I just find it tough to vent before the season even begins, especially when the pieces we thought needed to be filled are currently performing well. Like you said if they start off 2-10, that would be an excellent time to vent.

There is no guarantee that someone else would perform better than what we have, it's not like Drew is an all-star SS or anything. We'll have to see what happens.

@nymess @Evander Smart  Anything is better than what they had in RF last year.  Is he playing RF?  Granderson?

The Feels band

@crafalko17 @The Feels  Yeah, we love our prospects and think they're all stars until they're not instantly hitting .330.. then they suck and should be traded.

crafalko17

@nymess @Mets0987If they thought Flores was an option at SS they would be playing him there. Obviously they saw something after his 2 starts that had them start RT again. It isn't going to happen, regardless of his offensive numbers.

@crafalko17 @nymess @Mets0987  he's starting there today, so obviously they're still giving it some thought. so far, he's made a routine play in the field and just turned a double play...not that I saw it, but Josh Lewin made it sound like he did a good job on it.
