Mets are five games  behind; we still have a  chance to win the division......please help me stop laughing.

Best case scenario - somehow before the trading deadline we miraculously get to .500 and bring up syndergaard and d'arnaud. They both produce. For once we become buyers at the deadline and add a legit bat. We then make a run at a weak division.

Murphy is showing much more power this year and pulling some pitches.  Nice to see from him.

Compliments to Warthen, our much-maligned pitching coach.

Nice.very nice. But it doesn't mean jack until they do it at citi and not just once a month.

This is what happens when you don't bat Chris Young 5th

Nice series win by the Mets considering the foreboding from many here before it happened.

So when lagares is back are they really going to ignore the 3 doubles Kirk has hit in 2 games and send him back down?

In very limited time he has several clutch hits late in games and a .300 average. Why do they always ignore this and play the veterans?

Kirk

Granderson

Murphy

Wright

Duda

Legares

Flores

Darnuad

That's the lineup we need to see.

Wow - I had forgotten what offense looks like. What a pleasure. Until Travis comes back, I wish they would let Recker catch. He also had some big hits today. And really hoping Kirk can keep it up at the plate - he is hitting some ropes! Happy for Niese as well - man did our starting pitching look sharp this series. The A's are good so who knows? But loved slapping the Fish around! GO METS!

Not complaining at all about the win, but this just prolongs TCs stay here...

Three out of four in Miami? Hell yes I'll take that. If we can just split with the A's and take 3 from Pittsburgh, we'll be in full stride when the Bravos get to town. In the next ten days, we should learn a lot about where this team is headed in the second half.

Is the on deck circle actually in the batters box?

Looks like the whole mets team is actually having fun, smiling and what not. It's nice to see that, hope to see more of it.

That's the kind of day it's been. Our day.

Call me crazy but everytime when the mets are beating on another team I fell like the mets are the best team in mlb

Joseph Lewis

Call me when they've peeled off 9 out of 10 games and are above .500. Then I might start looking at the standings.

@Mud Flap I'm not going to get too excited, but we're seeing some nice trends.  Granderson and Wright hitting.  Bullpen rounding into shape.  If TDA can come back and hit .250 with some extra base power and Lagares can be the guy he was in April, this team can compete in a very weak NL East.

Is that a John Sterling/ Howie Rose mashup?

@John Plain  Im having a great day..Mets winning ...yanks losing ..phils losing ..braves losing!

@citifield  Well, EVERY team in MLB does win at least 60 games, so this is just 1 more to get to 60.

I agree. You're crazy.

I already 37 years old Joseph. By the time that happens I'll be a retired old man, living it up in what's left of Florida after the ocean levels rise and tropical storms have destroyed much of the infrastructure.

But still, 9 out of 10 will be a fun ride!

.300 hitter so far, better than every single outfielder they have

Forget them I'd take their backup catcher for Colon

John Kranzley

So give him more.

11 hrs, 50 RBI in 400 career at bats, most of which came at young age. Build in a little improvement and you are looking at a fu season of 18-20 hrs.

If a guy gets 20 at bats and does well with them, how can you blindly argue he sucks?

I would argue he needs more at bats. Especially if his competition is garbage.

@John Kranzley  I think Campball might be the one to go down with Lagarus coming back this time.

John Kranzley
John Kranzley

It should be Chris young, he's had enough time. What's the harm in admitting your mistake and moving on? You have 5 guys who deserve to play OF over CY

Lagares

Grandy

EY

Kirk

Campbell

Just move on already.

stage52

@John Kranzley  I think it should be CY then Abreu going down myself but I have my doubts that will happen

jonlga
jonlga

The problem with keeping Abreu and Nieuwenhuis is they're both lefties. Campbell will stay because he starts at first against lefties.

You'd gave to platoon Eric Young and Nieuwenhuis in left and keep Abreu off the bench. That leaves Chris Young gone. We will see.
