I could live with Flores at SS what he lacks in defense he makes up alot more on offense then Tejada or Omar

That was the most exciting/intense/back and forth game in the history of spring training.

How's Flores doing at short ?? !!! I kinda sorta like this idea I mean if they can make murphy a decent second baseman... I'm sure they can work with Flores at ss

Why doesn't terry challenge that? I don't care if he was out or safe, just try it out.

Another hit for Flores. Looks fairly smooth in the field but a so so arm

bench: CY/EY, Satin/Duda, Quinantilla, Flores ( who I would give at bats too at every position in the infield throughout the season and maybe he grabs a hold of first base or short), Recker.

That guy Descalso was on every pitch Valverde threw him. Not impressed at all with Valverde. Just another dumpster dive by Alderson.

classic mets: giving up a lead and never scoring again

I'm excited about Mad Dog's new show on MLB Network. I've always enjoyed listening to him talk baseball and it'll be interesting to see how he handles tv. I guess I'm just dieing to hear his voice again.

These cards announcers need to get their facts straight! First they said Satin made his debut last season (it was actually 2011) then they said that the rockies released EY (the Mets traded Colin Mchugh for him)

Adam Rubins tweet from the game today was "suffice it to say Wilmer is a good guy but he's not going to be a major league shortstop"

@Sean Garcia He looks ok.  Bobbled a DP ball-it was the his first play at SS of the day.  He also didnt get to a ball on his right that I think a SS should have gotten too.  His arm looks decent.  I think he could be ok. He just need reps at SS to see more.  Looks good at the plate double, single, walk and 2 runs scored

@Sean Garcia  he has more skill than Tejada and can hit. If we had a top defensive guy its one thing Tejada cant field at all.

Kind of like how the Cards screwed up Wainwright, CMart, Rosenthal, Siegerst, ... good point. Maybe Media is injury prone due to body his specific structure.

@mikesml They are looking at 9 starting pitchers at the moment, some are going to have to come out of the BP during spring games in order to get some work in. They aren't considering him for a relief role. Relax

@mikesml  If they did something smart i would be surprised Terry and Sandy are idiots.

Are you serious with this Seratelli nonsense?!?!? I hope you're kidding! It's not funny at all that you think he should be the starting SS for the Mets this season.. This scrub is a career minor leaguer and you want him to make the team out of camp and to start for the NY Mets?? you're nuts!

People wonder why the Rays and Marlins have no fans. As a FL resident, I can tell you that everbody here has been transfered here (I'm guilty) or is a 75 yr old retiree, and everyone keeps their favorite teams (I'm looking at you, detroit, philadelphia, new york, boston, and st louis fans). Literally nobody was actually born here.

@samc  He was released as was Colin Mc it was a waiver trade of 2 piles of crap

@samc  Every announcer outside of NY and Dodgers announcer are really bad, sometimes I wonder how these guys got there license to do this kind of stuff

@Tarheel11  I guess he got that scouting job from the Mets after all, huh? Quick, someone tell Omar

Sean Garcia

That sounds pretty good ... I mean if he can learn to play close to league average as a shortstop it can save us a ton of money down the road especially with all of these 4 figure salary shortstops hitting free agency next year

ponzies86

@samc  LOL true, FLorida is also known as the 6th borough of NYC

Sean Garcia

I mean if this is first time starting at short and that's all that's wrong with him. over the course of the next 2 weeks and maybe some starts in triple a he could be ok like I said before if they made murphy an ok second baseman I'm sure they can make Flores a decent shortstop. Id be happy if he could can just get on base .... And too be honest he doesn't have to worry about trying to get the ball to his right because terry is against the idea of playing the line so David wright would most likely be fielding all of the baseballs hit in that area he's gotta worry about his glove hand side and turning the double play

72tilltc

@anymos @Sean Garcia  It is better than messing up routine grounders in the 9th that lengthen a game to extra innings when Terry ruins the bullpen for for the next 5 days and we go into a major funk. Tejada did that against the Rockies and 1 other time last year.

anymos
anymos

@Sean Garcia I'm not saying he stinks- but if you're objectively analyzing his defensive performance, messing up a double play and not getting to a ground ball isn't pretty good for a SS.  Thing is, it may be good enough to start on this team.

crafalko17
crafalko17

@Muhammed A. Gretzky @72tilltc@Ryan RossI also think he has a good arm, but I'm a bit worried about the release for turning double plays n such. That looks rather long. Let alone his mobility. We saw in the first him trying to rush and cost a double play. I know he hasn't played SS in few years, but just an observation.

@Mike Dell Italia  anybody not named Tejada, Q, or Career Backup Minor Leaguer. I bet you're another one of those people that falls in love with the back QB on your favorite football team too, huh? There's a reason he's 31yo minor leaguer. He sucks
