I was thinking that David Wright should be dropped in the order, as recently as yesterday. However, now that I think about it. That would probably do a large amount of damage to his psyche. David goes to see the lineup card and finds out that he is batting 5th and Murphy is batting 3rd ? Or Flores is batting 3rd ? That could start friction, and mutiny within the clubhouse. David Wright, making $19,329,646 is obviously the million dollar franchise player. Next in the pecking order in accordance to tenure would be Daniel Murphy.

Terry Collins should make some changes in accordance to how the players are contributing. What do you guys think?

Campbell had 2 hits in each of the last two games, and one home run. That should guarantee him not playing for a while.

Good for Lucas, next year should be a breakout year, i was one of those I like Ike Guys, what do i know, if your going to rest Jaun, please put a lot of rest time aside for David, he doesn't smile anymore!!!

Ah, another lifeless effort by a team that played like whipped dogs because we all hate the manager. (I'm filling in for the whiners who are hiding in the woodwork).

Could you imagine how impotent this offense would be if they chose Ike over Duda.

Mets need to go 21-13 the rest of the way to finish with at 500 (81-81)

Mejia should be a setup man.

this bullpen has a shot to be special next year, edgin as the lefty, black, parnell, mejia, familia. torres has been a good long man. if leatherstich can figure it out then we have a guy whos k/9 is 15.9 or something like that. best part is, they are all pretty young.

Good to see I'm not the only one who believes that Familia is the future closer of this team. The guy has filthy power stuff now only if he can control his emotions

We won, in spite of David Wright, batting 3rd and going another 0-4!

The way Niese and Gee been pitchingsince the Allstar break. I would skip one and give Montero another start

@January 12th i think that next year we actually have a chance to be good. for that reason alone, i would rest wright as much as possible. if he isn't healthy for the start of next season then we have no chance. harvey is coming back and wright has to have a mvp season next year.

@January 12th A guy like David you call into your office and explain it first. You don't just post it.

@jjgjr41 so far, Ike has 6 home runs for Pittsburgh. That's a shocking number. At this point he's playing his way out of the MLB.

@jjgjr41 Ouch that's even more frightening than their hitting before today's game.

@rico never thought i'd say this but at this point in time i'll settle for mediocrity

hankincolo
hankincolo

@rico that's a maybe, but they'll need Grandy and David to get hot and with David right now, I'm not seeing it.

@jjgjr41 that would be a next year kinda thing, unless they close Jenry down for the season, which might be a good idea.

@bbr7  It's good to keep a positive attitude about the mets being good next year. You know what, I don't even know to be honest with you. I remember when they lost the 2006 championship game 7 to the cardinals. You know what? I thought, as many other fans thought, that it was no big deal, we would get better, we would be back in the race again in 2007.

Can you believe that it's been 8 years since they lost that game, and they have not even made the playoffs in 8 years. It's astonishing thinking about it.

David Wright would have to have a great year in 2015 for the mets to really contend. Most pundits expected that David Wright would have an excellent year especially with the addition of Granderson.

I have know clue what David's issue is. I'm thinking that David signed this huge contract and he has never been the same. He has gotten injured a lot recently, especially since last season and his numbers are not his typical 25 hr /100 rbi line.

David Wright is passed his prime. I think that he will still have some renaissance years, where he will reach 25/100 again, or something along those lines. I just don't think it is prudent to expect that production from David anymore.

@bbr7 @January 12th No he needs to go back to being a .300 hitter in 2015.  At this point, I'll take 15-20 hrs. He still plays an excellent 3rd base.

@hankincolo @January 12th I see, that is a good point. David will have to be spoken to about the situation and the impending demotion, because without a doubt moving from 3rd in the order to 5th is a demotion.

At $19,329,646 I have a that David is going to be placed in the 3rd spot of the lineup whether he is producing or not because he is worth so much money to this organization.

Murphy will bat 3rd. Another can of worms is whether Murphy will even be on the team next year, he is due for a raise and already he's at $5,700,000. Mets need to sign him up to a long term deal before he attempts to test free agency, cause on the open market he could get more. Otherwise we need someone to bat 3rd in our order.

@thecasuaLGM no the mets have a lot of quality arms Bob Dole only has one

hankincolo

@bbr7 @rico Exactly where I thought they might finish. Get to 80 and add a bat to bring them to 90!

@sjm25 @ponzies86 Not sold on Black as a closer, still walks too many for my liking, But, I'm sold on him for the 8th.

ponzies86

Parnell is effy, Mejia is not a legit closer, yes I give it to him he's done a good job but c'mon the guy is a long man at best. I see Black or Familia as they have traditional closer stuff.

ponzies86
ponzies86

Why cause I speak the truth about this team??? Dude 6 seasons of losing baseball. There's nothing to be proud of

bbr7
bbr7

I agree pretty much with all you are saying. I believe he is having an off year which almost every player of his prototype will have. I also believe he is beginning his decline. In order to maximize his impact for the sake of the team specifically in 2015, I would explore every avenue in resting him more often. You cannot just run him out there every single game of the season. That is the reason he is wearing down. In my opinion

ponzies86
ponzies86

Black set up Familia closing would be killer for opposing teams

jjgjr41
jjgjr41

@ponzies86 Mejia is far from a legit closer.  Maybe for a losing team but I wouldn't want him anywhere near the 9th inning if I was in a pennant race.

@ponzies86 you say the same things every day. all the negative givens all of us know all too well. You make a point of regurgitating them over and over, as if we were the Wilpons and you're getting revenge on us.

Newsflash Ponz: The Wilpons are bright enough to read your daily rehash of why you hate everything.  You're a depressed person and not because the mets are not in contention.  Because you're dark

josef

@sjm25 @hankincolo @josef Wright should bat 7th or 8th. I would have Murphy bat 3rd, Duda 4th, Campbell 5th, Grandy 6th, Wright 7th, Flores 8th, with Lagares leading off and Travis D batting 2nd

josef
josef

@sjm25 @hankincolo Or we can promote Reynolds and have him lead off, have Lagares bat 2nd, Murphy 3rd, Duda 4th, Campbell 5th, Travis D 6th, Grandy 7th and Wright 8th!

dannym28
dannym28

@josef @sjm25 @hankincolo thats why youre not the manager. TDa is hitting well in the fifth spot, campbell is a platoon guy, MDD should get his shot.

hankincolo
hankincolo

@josef @sjm25 @hankincolo Wait for September before we see Reynolds. I have no problem with Flores getting a shot. But you have to think his bat will come around and he'll have a few multi-hit games.

josef
josef

@sjm25 @hankincolo How about Reynolds leading off, Lagares 2nd, Murphy 3rd, Duda 4th, Travis D 5th, Wright 6th, Grandy 7th, and Campbell or any other left fielder bat 8th!

hankincolo
hankincolo

@josef @sjm25 @hankincolo Problem is that's where he's hit best in his career at or near the top. But hey, he had a good day at the plate, perhaps he builds on it. No way however is he a number 4. Duda has that locked-up.
