I really liked seeing EY, Jr, CY and Grandy 1-2-3.  I think that is a nice line-up with wright and murphy in the 4, 5 hole.  I really think if this team can get some type of legitimate SS, we may be on to something with the pitching we have.

This is why people overstate Byrd and understate Grandy.  I said it again and again that C Young will replace Byrd's power numbers and increase his speed and defense.  Grandy is an entirely additional bat. You may not get the same BA, but everything else will be similar.

was wondering how a guy as, well, slight as Granderson can generate so much power...no longer wondering that watching this interview. lol

Nimmo's swing reminds me a lot of Joey Votto.

A few observations from watching this game on DVR.

1. Mike Piazza should have his number retired. It should have been last year, but it needs to be soon.

2. I think Chris Young will play for us like Marlon Byrd did last year. I've always liked his game, very smooth swing.

3. I feel like d'Arnaud is kind of the forgotten man here. With the explosion of our young pitchers, people forget just how good this kid might be. If Davis pulls his head out of his you-know-what and is able to be adequate in the 4, Granderson solidifies the 5, Young at 6, D'Arny could be a terrific 7 hitter, .280/20/80 guy and a solid defensive catcher.

4. I used to be whole-heartedly Pro-Lagares, but at this point I'm willing to accept either him or EYJ.

5. I think Wheeler may have the best stuff out of our big 3. Syndergaard may be bigger, and Harvey may be tougher, but if Wheeler gets that Harvey-type mentality, he could be the best of the three. His stuff is just plain NASTY.

Wright should definitely hit before Granderson. He gets on base way more.

@Joseph DeFazio  I really really hope the Mets front office is thinking the same thing about the glaring hole that is the SS position right now. the potential is there.

@J. Smooth I'm rooting so hard for that kid, so he can shut-up the people who wrote him off 30 seconds after he was picked.  Give the kid a chance!

@metsjetsdu Profess your love and admiration for Wilpon now or you will get the banhammer.

@nymess that is assuming that Ike or a platoon of Duda/Satin produces as well. Either way, more confident that they will and that SS is a definite problem.

@hankincolo @nymess  I didn't mean short. the uniform kind of hides how muscular he actually is...never noticed until now.

@hankincolo @J. Smooth  There's always some know-it-all who thinks they know everything about college players. I remember people b*tched about picking Harvey a few years back and look how that turned out. Until these guys fail, you should always give the kid a chance

@Ed Yano We are hoping they hear us and change back.  Simple as that.  Or even an explanation of features that are better for the community that they hope to roll out.

People complained that Microsoft got rid of the Start button in Windows 8.  Complained and complained for months and months.  Why would a company as big as Microsoft listen to complainers?

But wait!  Windows 8.1?  The start button is back!  They heard the people and responded.

I agree it's the commentators right to try to get a change made for the better for a blog they enjoy going to.However they say they no longer enjoy this blog.Thats my point if they can't do what they use to do and don't like it here anymore they have other blogs they can enjoy. The changes On this blog have been made months ago. They have had their say about what they think the best changes are.Why are they still complaining the mods already know how they feel and what they think. When was the last time a commentator posted something original about the changes. They have been saying the same thing for months over and over again. It reminds me of a 2 year old having a temper tantrum, holding their breath and stomping their fleet. What's their point?

@Ed Yano  Ed I understand where you're coming from but why are you letting it bother you. Let them do what the want to do. You're correct it's their right to change the system but it's also these commentators right to try to get a change made for the better for a blog they enjoy going to. Just because one thing changes you don't like doesn't mean they have to stop coming here, maybe they enjoy this blog so much they want to make sure it has the best aspects available and makes the best changes so that it continues to grow and doesn't lose fans. Just a thought.

We all hope things will always change for the better. In your opinion they have changed for the worse. You have given your opinion on the changes,it doesn't seem that they will be changing back anytime soon.Again you have had your say now let it go,why aggregate yourself.

1) there are like 10-15 comments on the aqctual topic.  If your traffic has increased then it appears nobody is staying around.

2) You seem to proof and edit.  We used to have a drinking game based on the kind of error.  That doesn't happen if there are no errors.

@Ed Yano I have been here for years.  I keep hoping things will change for the better.

No it means he is still posting on this blog so he hasn't left.He might be posting less, but he is still posting.

Ed Yano

Why are you coming to a blog when you don't like the system they use? You have many other options. What does it mean that your still here complaining after months?Could you explain what it means? For the record I liked the other system better myself, but I understand their right to change it if they wanted to.If I was as upset about it as you seem to be I would move to another blog and not give this one the traffic.

zoddie

@Ed Yano Sure he can.  He could have been a regular contributor and posted 15 times per day when this was a Disq site.  Now he can come every other day and post once or twice per week.  Wouldn't that mean he's mostly left?

zoddie
zoddie

@sylow59 @Ed Yano Also missing is the ability to downvote.  In all seriousness, half the fun on the internet is informing people that their opinions are incorrect.  That, plus the email notifications made Disq-s much better for these blogs.  We all really, really miss the old system.

Don't get me started on the Twitter and Facebook integration.  Good for traffic, terrible for fostering a community.  Who wants to scroll through two dozen idiotic comments?  Consistently painful.

I'd also say that the fact that we ARE still complaining months after the change means something.  When Google changes Gmail, everyone complains for 2 weeks and realize that the changes are better for the most part.  Not the case here.

Ed Yano

If you are here commenting you have not left. What does for the most part mean?you have left or you haven't.You can't have it both ways

"but this change happened months ago and you are still here complaining.you have had your say we all understand you don't like it so move on."

For the most part I've left.

@Andrew Vazzano @SaltyGary  It's funny you say that. This thread only has 45 comments, but 32 are complaints about the new comment system. Thats over 70% of the comments.

I know theJetsBlog uses the same platform for discussion, but there is a thread on a Rex Ryan quote about Geno Smith in March and that has 32 comments.

NFL is is no man's land (between the SB and free agency/draft) and they have threads with just as many comments. It's tough for you to push the community aspect with any real credibility...

I have no problem with people saying they are not happy, but this change happened months ago and you are still here complaining.you have had your say we all understand you don't like it so move on.This is a sports blog, there are many others you can choose from we are not dealing with world peace or poverty here. Its sad that this can consume you for this long.Dont you get it they are not changing back.

@sylow59 @Andrew Vazzano @AgeesCatch  Unfortunately this site is turning into our government. They makes changes that they insist are better for us and that we don't know any better and any comments contrary to this blog being the best thing on Earth, pretty much get deleted.

Grandy 2 homers. ( seeee im on topic)

@Ed Yano  Imagine if every time we were'nt happy with something we just gave up and moved on ? Easy words to say. It is ok for people to be upset about such a change that is widely considered by nearly every commentator to be dumb. Thanks for the advice though Ed

@Andrew Vazzano @AgeesCatch  My main complaint with Livefyre vs Disqus is that I don't get a notification when someone comments on one of my older comments. On DIsqus there was a kind of notification center, which sent me directly to reply to other comments, and really kept the conversation alive. Is there any way you guys could install something like that?

@SaltyGary We put this game post up late. It's spring training. There's no need for us to fret.

@Andrew Vazzano But is it having the affect you are desiring? From the outside it looks like you dismantled your community and now there is no real discussion at all.
