Are you kidding me Travis and Satin. You guys leave a total of 12 men on base today together. No motivation out of Travis this spring. Watch out, Kevin is year behind you Travis.

looked like Leathersich was throwing batting practice to Stanton...what an absolute bomb.

Sandy ,please get us a shortstop ! Tejada is not the answer!

Wright pulled after 4 innings and just 2 at-bats? The paranoid Mets fan in me finds this unsettling.

I just saw it said tejada hit a double.. Did the outfielder misplay the ball? how is that possible?

Colon looks good, he is what he is, he throws strikes and pops guys up, he should do very well in CitiField. Just have to make sure he doesn't have to do much else but bunt when he has to bat.

I guess spring training isn't meant just for players.

And Jerry Meals is why MLB instant replay is needed.

Colon looks good in his first start, how to you blow the call on three straight plays? My god.

Oh brother, I've never seen an ump blow 3 calls in a matter of seconds. guy must still be on vacation...

And did Keith say he's not sure Wilmer has the arm for SS? I never thought his arm was part of the concern.

If the Mets don't do something about SS and 1B before the season starts, it's going to be ugly.

Wasn't Flores to start getting time at SS starting this week? Don't announce it if you are not going to deliver Terry.

Still no Flores at SS, I don't really understand that, mets should have had him out there already to see if he can handle the position. We already know what Tejada is, time to find out what Flores can do at SS, C"mon Terry.

You guys should completely just relax about a freaking SPRING TRAINING games, it's more about getting back into the rythmn, than anything. If you guys wanna freak out about something, how about the fact that Adam Rubin is tweeting that the Mariners scouts have religiously attended every Mets Spring Training game. That's pretty exciting to think about, no?

Counting the 'B' game this morning, we're seeing a pattern develop over the last two weeks. The Mets regulars are struggling to get on base in the first 6-7 innings, then the scrubbies come in and find a way to beat up on the opponents scrubbies, and now even the other guys' varsity. Let's not get carried away, but it's nice to know that there is offensive talent blooming in the system, along with the pitching. The one concern is the coldness of those who look to be the main 15 on the roster. I'm sorry, but other than Wright & Grandy, when you're a .400 team, you don't get the luxury of 'rounding into shape'; you're borderline DFA. I'm happy to see the system guys stay hot and begin to push the NL guys, who, as has been noted before, have played the last few years at the 'happy to be here' level. It appears time for Collins & Sandy to go to the crop with some of these guys -- "You want it? Then, take it. Or else we go to the next in line." Someone will always be hungry enough to grab it & go.

Ah man, I want to watch Legares in CF and Flores play SS on SNY. Damn it TC. I hope the lineup for the televised game changes.

The only thing i can say is mlb states traveling team must take five mlb position players with them. That being said, bench players count. So flores and others with minimal mlb experience do count. TC clearly shows a favoritism to vets over youth, so expect Lageras to travel. But a different take seems to be that this appears to be collins's starting outfield for next year. In reality with no Harvey this year, the mets would need for a lot of their youthful players to rise to the top of their potential early to show relevancy. In reality based on what he showed us last year Lageras seems to be a person the mets should be looking at in CF this year, to see if he is the teams started going forward. He can either do three things, progress, regress, or stay the same. Wont figure those things out by starting him in AAA after he spent the majority of last year in the mlb. He is the right age to be up here. He had a natural progression through the minors. EY jr has never been a starter. He has an elite tool in his speed. But so did Endy Chavez. Chavez for that matter could also field at an elite level with an above, but not great arm. Both well above EY jr tools. In the end Endy Chavez was a great fouth outfielder. Which is what EY jr is, He should not be in the plans for this team going forward for more then that. If TC can't see that then he does not belong at the helm of this team. And don't even get me going about the fifth spot in the rotation.

Burkhardt said it best why the talk of Flores playing SS? Just put him there for a start! TC is an idiot.

I do not understand the A-game B-game thing.  The guys who pitched in our B game seem to be all guys who can/will make the roster.  Who determines what is A and what is B? Plus, what difference does it make?

Yeah. That team wins 90. HAHAHAHAHAHA

@dreamer3kx That wasn't blown, he was safe. He was arguing more because of the other calls on principle. Colon must be feeling good and told them he wanted some real work today.

@Tony Zucco Pulled a ground ball over the 3B bag. First time so far I saw him not hit a pop fly. He did also drop a popup however in the 2nd.

@nymess  I do agree with him that the person who should be starting at SS is NOT in camp.

I don't think I'm ever seen the same ump make three bad calls in one at bat.

Mets need to make a stand soon with Tejada. Stop talking about Flores and put him there for a week and see what he has. Tejada is done here.

crafalko17
crafalko17

@dreamer3kx Neither are the answer at short. Something needs to be done. I for sure would be happier with Flores than Tejada, but we, including the FO, need to accept that the answer is not currently in this camp and need to add something whether it's Drew through FA or Franklin/D'Banks via trade.

Keith was reading my mind apparently

@mike23  Flores is hitting .105 this spring.  He has bigger issues right now than playing SS.  Right now, he is not sniffing the majors when camp breaks without turning this around.

helloboy

@Opti-Mets-tic  it is only worth being excited about if the Mets actually decide to entertain realistic trade proposals when they talk.  You are not getting Franklin for Quantanilla and Church...

I am all for getting Franklin, i think he will do well enough defensively and I like his attitude.  He is clearly more natural a SS than Flores is and unlike Flores, he actually has driven in runs and hit HR at the majors.  I think he would be a great addition, sort of like a switch hitting Murphy type at SS.

Anthony Mastantuoni

@Brandon Hillman Terry Collins is not the only manager who favors vets in terms of travel in Spring Training.  The Marlins pitched a fit when the Red Sox brought their reserves - even though Miami sold the game (and charged extra) as the World Series Champion Red Sox.

crafalko17
crafalko17

@helloboy It's simply a splitsquad because they want the players to get as much work as possible. Don't think of it as the first team and second team, but simply two different teams. Coulda named em team 1 and 2 for all they care. Just a matter of seeing as much of them as they can to make decisions about the roster...Wish Lagares was playing on the televised one. boo

@Bob Burket  I don't think E. Young, Recker, Seratelli or Satin will be starting, so your post is silly.

@Kevin VanTassell  supposedly got the wind knocked out of him...i guess it was one of those diving plays.

crafalko17
crafalko17

@dreamer3kx @nymessYeah that wouldn't make sense since he is a 3B by trade. The issue is his range, Flores looked Satin/Duda slow last year running the bases. No matter what training he did during the offseason, I just can't see it happening.

Opti-Mets-tic
Opti-Mets-tic

@helloboy @Opti-Mets-tic  I am absolutely certain that the trade will upset some fans, and thrill others. I am also certain that it will be a steeper price than Quintanilla and Church, a whole lot steeper.

crafalko17
crafalko17

@dreamer3kx @crafalko17@nymessYou'll get your wish later this week, I just don't see it. If the Mets are at all serious, they need to find a SS. I feel like Flores would be a legit 3B, but not here.

crafalko17
crafalko17

@dreamer3kx @crafalko17If they thought he would be an option at SS he would have been playing there the entire Spring. The fact he has yet to play there speaks volumes about what they think about Flores at SS. It's all posturing trying to act like they aren't as desperate as they are. You can't live with a poor fielding SS AND 2B, too many lost plays. They need to do something, it just isn't here

helloboy
helloboy

@Opti-Mets-tic @helloboy  I did not mean you to mean you specifically, just those that want unrealistic trades.   I am a big supporter of Franklin and I like the type of player he is.  You have to be willing to let go a Plawecki and a Mejia or Black level player to get him.

For me, I would.  it would be a polarizing move though with people generally pissed or totally elated.
