No lineup tinkering will fix the offense now. Granderson and Wright are hitting poorly and  CY never hits. They will have better days, but wont compete (stay within a few games of WC giving fans something to enjoy) without at least 1 more strong bat. Too bad the owners and GM decided to punt on the rest of 2014. I would guess they could have gotten a  good bat for Colon + Montero . Now Colon is losing value by the day.  We have waited long enough.

I hope Alderson was watching this game ...maybe he will finally realize how much we need more hitting.

Mets offense is soooooooooooooooo bad! Colon with a bad start today as well, bad combo which is why I didn't even bother watching. I saw the lineup and was like, no thanks.

You know, the Mets have a hard enough time scoring as it is without Terry f'ing up the lineup all the time.

All year I am watching Wright hit. It is a miracle he is hitting .270. I have never seen so many bloop's, broken bat hit, and bleeders through the infield. Does anybody remember the last time he drove a lined shot somewhere or really stung the ball . Remember, this guy hit 29 HR;s in this ballpark

Yeah, don't do anything to improve the offense, this team is fine as it is. If Morse wasn't playing LF yesterday, the Mets would have have about 6 hits total in the last three games.

Well today will put a crimp in SA's beloved run differential.

Duda and Murphy play and we'd have won 19-9! After all they played the first two games when we struggled. But have them face a great lefty and watch out!!!

You could make the argument that 5 of todays positions players don't start on any other team in the majors. So does this surprise anyone?

That's it, terry from now on better keep CY off the field. I hope TC realizes that Murphy and Duda have to be in the line up every day from now on if they want an entertaining September. Come Alderson, release Chris Young already.

If this game doesn't prove to Collins that he needs to shake up this lineup then nothing will.

Learned one thing form the game today. Collins is not only incompetent, he's insane. LGM for tomorrow.

Thank you Mr Alderson  you get what you pay for

Sadly, out of the 4 pitchers we were facing this series, Hudson was doing the best coming in. We needed a split and its going to be very tough to get one. We all know our offense is bad, but these past 3 days have been beyond pathetic, even for their low standards.

Gee with his lifetime 3.87 era tomorrow

Gee needs to throw a gem tmw. Key to turning things around now is to limit the losing.

Wow, glad I couldn't watch this one. They got to come back and win tmw. This team needs to rattle off a 6 game win streak.

Lets hope the Giants finished hitting HRs for the rest of the series in this game. I hope TC will have the regular starting line-up intact tomorrow afternoon.

With all respect to Terry Collins ... what am I talking about, I don't respect him.

With all respect to Soup, any team where he is the clean-up hitter strikes fear in nobody.

Absolutely nobody wants to pay colon 11 mil next season come on now. And montero is just a prospect.

Only trade pieces they have are wheeler /murph and they were asking wayyyy too much.

Duda and Murphy should have played. They would have each gotten 5 hits off of Bumgarner.

@theglider I agree....it wouldnt have mattered much, but still....you have to sit THREE starters in the same game?

@Tarheel11 The outcome of the game? No it didnt surprise me with this lineup. I didnt expect them to lose this badly though....i figured like a 4-2 type loss. Colon was really brutal.

@matmil Shake it up how? Like the old saying goes, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken s##t.

@Doubleday

Well, how about following up that clean-up hitter with a number 5 hitter that is CY.

In case Soup does get a hit, you can follow that up with an automatic out.

Did they really expect they would score today?

@docj 6 more years at almost 20 million per, huh.

theglider
theglider

He's a very tough lefty. We had a right handed lineup.

yankeehater
yankeehater

@eric88 @docj We all better desperately hope that he is really injured and is just unable to generate any real bat speed. If thats not the case, then we might find ourselves with the most expensive 6-7 hitter in the history of the game in another season or two.

yankeehater
yankeehater

@theglider Yeah, but TDA could have played at least. TC didnt necessarily do anything crazy obviously, but when you lose like this after sitting three starters you are going to get second-guessed.

theglider
theglider

d'Arnaud caught last night. We have another with them then three in DC. The kid needed a rest at some point. This game seemed like the best chance. Let Recker dace the lefty and have d'Arnaud, who is hitting, face a good righty.

In the end d'Arnaud needed a break. If not today then tomorrow.

ponzies86
ponzies86

Why the hell would I lie about that??? I'm not Mexican maybe you are but not me

yankeehater

@theglider Posey caught last night too....TDA is young. Like I said though, its not that big of deal being that they got crushed regardless.....its just not too normal to be resting 3 healthy starters in the same game. Its splitting hairs though because i doubt that they make any difference regardless if they all played today.

theglider
theglider

We'll see if Posey catches tomorrow. Playing d'Arnaud every game is not realistic.

We have them tomorrow. Then the Nats and Phillies. If not today then when? Next month?

theglider
theglider

Then play one of them. But I had no problem with resting the lefties against Bumgarner.
