This thread is officially rock bottom.

This was a game Wheeler wins with any offense. He had a good outing. Having the heart of your order include Duda and Chris Young defies explaination. Ike was never going to recover and be the power 1st baseman we need. Duda is just not made for a successful team. Having him in there reduces and dimishes everyone.

I would love to have a beer, share a pizza with "the Dud", just don't have him play. THE WORST!

I posted this before but had to go. After much thought I've decided Jimmy is my second favorite person on this blog.

We need more offense but will Sandy get us any.. I doubt it...This isn't a organization commited to winning.

Not that it would make any difference, but Collins is stupid for not playing Campbell. Why not have him play instead of Chris young? His batting average is over 100 points higher. By the way, season officially over. Just stating the obvious

They lost today because their offense is horrible. That's why they cannot afford to give away runs. Mistakes are made by everyone. But Flores' error led to their third run. That can't happen with this offense.

Anyone know where I can find a picture of JimmyBX and a couple of DJ's?

I just watched Ike Davis strike out with a man on and 2 outs, can't say that I miss that. Although the curve Strasburg threw was nasty...

Put Campbell at 1st base. I know we've only seen him for about 10 days but he's got to be better than Duda.

Gotta love the wheeler bashing. What does it do for you guys to bitch about a performance like that?

I see that Nimmo is tearing up the Florida State League.  That's great, and a positive sign.  They drafted him in 2011.  It might be time to start "fast tracking" the kid.    It's not like he's got a Murderer's Row lineup to crack.

Macacawitz

The problem isn't the hitting philosophy.  The problem is the hitters, or more specifically, the lack of hitters.

Hitters can hit.

Someone with the innate ability to hit can get out of bed, stagger to the plate half asleep, and line one into the gap.

He can be drunk, 100 lbs. overweight, 45 years old, and he can still hit.

See Yogi Berra, Rusty Staub, Smoky Burgess, or,   "Pinch Hitter Extraordinaire" Gates Brown.

That's how hitting has always worked.

Until these frauds are willing to open up the vault and start throwing some serious cash at some serious hitters, nothing will change.

7 post season appearances in over a half century.

The beat goes on.

I'm starting to wonder about the game plan Sandy has for this organization. He and his cohorts, claim to have a vision for this team, but the vision seems to be great from St. Lucie all the way to Las Vegas, but the big league team comes across, year in and year out like a glorified expansion team.

This thread should be sent to the Wilpons. This is what happens when you put an independent league team on the field.

He's probably become as tired of this nonsense as we are.

It's just ridiculous. They lost today because the lineup sucks. The left fielder is terrible. The first baseman is a joke. They get no offense from the catcher position. Their supposed best hitters can't get a clutch hit to save their lives. It just goes on and on and.......

@Macacawitz I have seen Nimmo and I like what I see. Same with Dilson Herrera, the guy they got with Black in the Pirates deal last year. Nimmo has such an advanced hitting approach for his age. Takes pitches the other way well, line drive after line drive sprayed all over the yard. Good athlete, runs well. Power should develop, but even if he doesn't become a slugger, I see a guy who can thrive at the top of the order. On base numbers are crazy.

Yeah I have seen a few his game's. He clearly is the best player on A st Lucie. He should be getting promoted to AA team in a couple weeks. He's going to be good.

@Macacawitz I've said this before but not since Wright and Reyes have they had anyone near that kind of caliber come up recently. Largares still remains to be seen what this kid could do, although I like everything I've seen so far...

@Macacawitz  Actually, the "hitting philosophy" does have a lot to do with how bad they're hitting.  Well over 1/2 of their ABs ends up with 2 strikes.  They're simply taking too many pitches and getting themselves in situations where they're forced to swing at a pitcher's pitch.  Yes, they're not good hitters but that also just make it more imperative that they attack the pitches they can handle, even if it's the first pitch of the AB.  Way too many times they stare at a fastball over the plate for strike 1 that they should be swinging at.  Their philosophy of drawing walks is actually doing these bad hitters a disservice.

So friggin stupid. He gave up a walk and double to lead to two and was solid the rest of the way! He is fine, our offense is beyond hope. Putting the same clowns in hoping for a different outcome...incredibly sad.

@p8erbaghad I see this especially with d'Arnaud. Coming up through the minors, his BB/K ratios weren't what Alderson would want. He didn't strike out excessively, just didn't walk a lot. But he hit. Seems he's gotten it into his head that he must take more pitches and now he's caught in between and all messed up. Maybe he won't amount to anything, but I can't see how this forcefed "approach" is helping him.

Ask any philosopher, they will all tell u the same exact thing. The mets don't hit bc they can't hit and also bc they suck
