Today’s game: Cubs at Mets, 1:10 p.m.

The Mets and Cubs play the third game of their four-game series Sunday at Citi Field.

The game is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. on SNY. It can be heard on 710 WOR.

Rafael Montero (0-3, 6.12 ERA) starts for the Mets, while Jake Arrieta (6-4, 2.77) pitches for Chicago.

Update 12:40 p.m.: As expected, third baseman David Wright will sit out on Sunday. Wright, who did not speak with reporters Sunday morning, is sore after getting hit in the back of the left shoulder on a pitch from Cubs’ Dan Straily on Saturday.

Wright received a cortisone shot before the All-Star break on that same area of the shoulder with the ball hitting him in his trouble spot.

Two bats and the further development of JLAG and TDA and DUDA and MDD will drastically improve record next year.

Hopefully scouts watched Montero today. To me he is expendable...and should be one of the focal points of a Castro trade

Before even thinking about snifing the playoffs there's alot to be addressed and I do t see Mejia being a legit closer. He's more like a long man. Would love to see a power pitcher like Familia in that role but the guy can't handle the pressure

you just have to get Castro..you have to...and he is cheap right now money wise...money is not an issue...please trade for this dude...we can do it...

Of course if he is available...

Prospects dont always pan out...cant just throw every prospect out there and hope for the best...cant win that way..Castro would be perfect for this team

Can't win with 4 hits against a terrible team. Awful.

What did you expect with the b-lineup they ran out today? Good takeaway: Montero seemed to throw it much better this time around.

Once TEJADA and RECKER were announced I knew this was a loss....

Yes, excellent performance by him today. With deGrom coming back, I'm guessing they'll be going with a 6 man rotation.

Regardless of who plays, the lineup sucks. Didn't need today's game for us to learn that.

@gts41 Well this game only affected our run differential by one run, so it was less of a loss than other losses.  Before anyone flames me, I am being sarcastic.

a 256 batting average is terrific...boy you have been conditioned to accept mediocrity.  DUDA stinks...he has 21 homers but he still stinks and is not the solution at first for us.

I would very much like to get Castro, but Chicago will want as cheap, young, potential frontline starter like Montero or Syndergaard. If we offer anything less, we will be outbid. They are rebuilding and definitely will not want a veteran starter.

Richard Alicea
Richard Alicea

I disagree...NIESE is on a very modest contract and GEE can also be signed to a modest contract...a team rebuilding needs some veteran leadership pitching on their roster...so GEE or NIESE, plus MURPHY and one good prospects is more than enough to obtain CASTRO.  We can then place FLORES on second.
