PLAYERS THE METS SHOULDCONSIDER AQUIRING THIS SEASON. TROY TULOWITZKI SHORSTOP COLORADO ROCKIES. AND MIKE STANTON OUTFIELD FLORIDA MARLIN. BOTH PLAYERS DESERVE SERIOUS CONSIDERATION. THEY WOULD HELP METS BECOME SERIOUS CONTENDERS.

SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT TO SAY ABOUT IKE DAVIS. BUT IKE DAVIS IS A GOLD GLOVE CALLIBER PLAYER. AND HAS IN PAST HIT 30 HRS. THIS SEASON WAS SUPPOSE TO BE ZACH WHEELERS SEASON. BUT FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN. YOU ARE HOLDING THE KID BACK. BY NOT ALLOWING HIM TO TROW 95-97MPH. AND HAVE HIM ATTACK THE HITTERS. LIKE HE DID LAST SEASON. JUAN LAGARES IS IMPRESSIVE. AND SHOULD BE STARTING IN CENTER. IF YOU DECIED TO MAKE AN ADDITION AT SHORTSTOP. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND COLORADO'S TULOWITZKI. TULOWITZKI COULD BE OUR DEREK JETER. METS ONE GAME AT A TIME.

MY BAD I SAID BROWN. INSTEAD OF CAMBELL. IN MY SCOUTING REPORT. CAMBELL SEEMS TO HAVE THE PROFILE OF A LONG BALL HITTER.

VIC BLACK HAS RAW POTNTIAL. IT JUST A QUESTION OF SEASONING. HIS FASTBALL IS ELECTRIC. AND HIS BREAKING BALL WAS IMPRESSIVE. THE KID IS JUST HAS NERVES. AND IT AFFECTING HIS CONTROL. INVEST TIME AND INSTRUCTION. AND IT'LL PAYOFF. ANDREW BROWN LOOKS LIKE HE COULD BE A 25-30 HR, GUY.

You can't run Fl8res out ar short if your running Murph out at 2nd everyday. Maybe if they had a Brandon Phillips playing second but otherwise this team needs a SS that does not currently reside on it's roster or in it's minor league system.

Rubin just posted that collins said ike isn't close to returning.. I can't with this team already.. Two guys fighting for a spot on the team and either can't stay on the field and get their AB's or are an embarrassment on the field like we all thought

Plawecki is going to be an awesome trade piece if he keeps developing. Considering TDA doesn't tank

I might sound crazy but ill be fine with Puello, Lagares and Grandy starting in the outfield this season

I like sartelli he is a hustle type player the guy laid down a bunt single stole 2nd the stole 3rd to score on a ground ball we needa see more but he looks decent not starter type but anything is better than quintanilla or tejada

Murphy's days here are numbered. Making 5 Million. Out by July.

Now what exactly was that at least half naked man doing out there behind the trees with his hands rolling around by his waist? There are three options and only one of them has to do with fishing

PLEASE TRY AND MAKE DEAL. FOR TROY TULOWITZKI. HE WOULD BE PERFECT BATTING INFRONT OF DAVID WRIGHT.

I'm impressed with Flore's recovery on bobble. Looks more agile than I was expecting. Now I think Wright first, Murphy 3rd, Flores 2nd, get a ss.

I finally figured it out! The Mets are going to play a 3-4 defense. Lagarus will play Short CF and cover SS, 2B, and the OF.

Why are both Davis & Duda sitting out again? Their boo-boos haven't healed yet?

Wheeler is more of a 3rd rotational guy then 2nd

Tejada better not be our starting SS this season, Much rather see Flores out there

@Marky Mark  Right now I'll give Matt Clark the job.  Let the other two fight it out in Vegas, and call the better one up if Clark doesn't work out.

Anyone know when the date is where you can cut/release a player without having to pay his full salary? Have to think the Mets have to bite the bullet and dump Ike.

He may end up being better than d'Arnaud.

@ponzies86  Nah... he lets it drop on purpose just so he can throw the guy out at 1st

@Ponzies86 Are you a Yankee fan? Really Puello , Flores, Lagares can these guys prove they can be major league players befores fans start handing them full time positions.

nym68
nym68

@ponzies86  Yeah, you do sound crazy. The guy didn't even play a full season at AA last season due to his suspension. You are getting sucked in spring training games

nymess

@Zac Tindall  wouldn't mind to see him as a backup to a legit major league SS

Eric Koeller
Eric Koeller

@Zac Tindall  he's the kind of guy every championship team needs. He isn't a superstar or even a starter, but he's the guy who can do all the little things right. Definition of role player

nym68
nym68

Tulowitzki? as in the guy who the Rockies wouldn't trade to St.Louis for any of there stud pitchers who went to the World Series and makes $20million a year? That guy? I know your posts are typed by a nameless blind person, but I didn't know that you were on drugs too

Because it finally occurred to the Mets that they both stink.

crafalko17

@Kevin Joseph Patrick Calf and Hammy respectively. Davis is closer than Duda to returning who has yet to even take BP. Murphy out too with a bruised shin. Very VERY safe policy so far this spring.

@metjetnet  What more proof do you need than this that people will find ANYTHING to complain about on here.  This may take the cake.

ac0814
ac0814

How do you know that?

Zac Tindall
Zac Tindall

@nymess I agree but I don't think Drew Flores or Franklin are the solution to our problem our solution lies in the form of Asdrubal Cabrera he's 28 hits for power and is a great fielder

jongonz718
jongonz718

@Jimmy BX @eric88  don't hold your breath, if this team doesn't see flores needs to be at SS and it doesn't happen then it's going to be flores, not murphy who is packaged in a trade.

nym68
nym68

@Mark Kelly @ponzies86  based on the way Flores only bobbled the ball once that was hit to him at 2B. That's an improvement over Tejada

KS
KS

@Zac Tindall  In what universe is Asdrubal Cabrera a "great fielder"  Dude has had a negative defensive rating every year and has been getting worse.  He was also dead last among qualified SS in UZR last year.

Zac Tindall
Zac Tindall

The guy didn't play a full season and he hit what 225 dude you can't be sold on that

Zac Tindall
Zac Tindall

@matregrano EYJR doesn't play the infield often when he does it's only 2b so be realistic would you rather see sartelli or quintanilla?

Zac Tindall
Zac Tindall

Ok Ryan Howard not that sartelli is Ryan Howard cuz by no means will he ever be but he was a 28 year old rookie! Sartelli may be 31 but if he is hustling and making plays in the spring does he not deserve a shot considering the situation at ss

Bo Beck
Bo Beck

@Ponzies86 I hate Tejada but didn't he hit 280? What has Flores done so far?

Bo Beck
Bo Beck

@Mark Kelly Boston also had a true leadoff hitter and 2 hitter guys who actually got on base.

ponzies86
ponzies86

@Bo Beck  Little time Flores has in the majors he hit more then Tejada in his what 3 year career in the Majors

Bo Beck
Bo Beck

@Ponzies86 And when did Fl8res prove he can hit?

Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly

@nymess @Mark Kelly@crafalko17@nym68@ponzies86Well there is a profile that most 1st basemen have.

Just looking at 2013 and ISO:

1st base had a .176

2nd had a .119

3rd had .142

SS had .113

LF had .147

RF had .158

OF as a whole had .150

CF had .137

C had .143

DH had .172

SO you can clearly see that power profiles more at 1st 3rd LF and RF and obviously DH.

That's why you have to Profile for that position. Also Olerud had a .190 ISO for the mets and Hernandez had 140+

DMMP
DMMP

@Mark Kelly @ponzies86 @crafalko17 @nym68  1. Did you just say 23rd of 32?  You are aware there are only 30 ML teams correct?  Unless I missed an expansion at some point over the past few years.

2nd.  He was on a rate last season to be one of the team leaders in RBI's over a full season. I don't care if a player hits .200 if he can bring his guys in every time. Something this team fails to do consistently.  He's also still extremely young, in case you forgot.  Just cause a young guy doesn't succeed day one doesn't mean you should just dismiss him due to his first cup of coffee.

3. Have you seen him play SS to verify this?  Tejada can't make the routine plays either, and yet here we are today. (Or well barely can.)

Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly

@nymess @Mark Kelly@crafalko17@nym68@ponzies86

Which ones are you talking about? Possibly one of the best fielding 1st basemen of all time. Who had a 400+ OBP, didn't k. In facet he BB'd more than he k'd his 1st 4 years with the mets.

Or John Olerued who was pretty much the same player?

It is not a strict requirement to hit for power, but you need +++ tools to compensate for that lack of power. Fielding OBP, not K'ing.

nymess
nymess

@Mark Kelly @crafalko17 @nym68 @ponzies86 just playing devil's advocate here, but do people not realize that some of the most successful Mets teams did not have a typical power hitting first baseman? Granted, the power would need to come from elsewhere to compensate in cases like that, but I'm not sure when this became a strict requirement.

Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly

@nym68 @ponzies86Red Sox stuck out 1308 times 8th in the majors, and 70 behind mets. But they lead the majors in runs scored.

I don't see the cause for concern.

nym68
nym68

@ponzies86 @Mark Kelly @crafalko17 @nym68  They have a legitimate chance of setting the all-time record for team strikeouts in a season. Not strikeouts by a pitching staff. Strikeouts by an offense.. THAT'S the lineup that  Chuckles the GM has assembled so far.

90 wins? try scoring 90 runs first

Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly

@ponzies86 @Mark Kelly@crafalko17@nym68

1st off mets weren't dead last. Mets were 23rd of 32 in MLB and 11 of 15 in the NL in runs. And only 30 runs over the season off of the Dodgers who were 7th exact middle of NL.

2ndly What has flores shown to give you confidence he CAN HIT. Sure he's been good in the minors, he's got a high profile prospect status.

3rd. You need to be able to make the routine plays, something flores hasn't been able to do at SS.  Why not just put Ike Davis at SS?

ponzies86
ponzies86

@Mark Kelly @crafalko17 @nym68 @ponzies86  This team lacks offense ill take alittle defensive liability at SS for some pop and consistent bat. We need to score RUNS this year not be almost dead last in offense again

Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly

@crafalko17 @Mark Kelly@nym68@ponzies86

Oh I love the potential he has. Unfortunately he's not a SS. Flat out, if he was no way he is moved off that position 3 years ago NO WAY. SS Value as a prospect is thru the roof.

Flores has the potential to have a special bat, but depends on position. 3rd, 2nd if not, I'm not sure if he'll profile for the power required to play at 1st.

ponzies86
ponzies86

@Mark Kelly @nym68 @ponzies86  listen FLores is much better then Tejada if you think other wise then dude go get checked. Tejada might be slightly better on the field but not by a wide margin, its alot closer
