Tigers will not make a qualifying offer to SS Jhonny Peralta

Jhonny PeraltaTigers GM Dave Dombrowski said they do not expect to make a qualifying offer to SS Jhonny Peralta, and are unlikely to re-sign him this winter (Iott of MLive.com).

After the Tigers lost to the Red Sox in the ALCS, Peralta said he wanted to return to the Tigers after this season (Lowe, Detroit Free Press, Oct. 20) but the acqusition of SS Jose Iglesias made such a reunion unlikely.

In 107 games for the Tigers in 2013, Peralta, 31, hit .303 with a .358 OBP and an .815 OPS, 11 home runs and 55 RBI in 448 plate appearances. He served a 50-game suspension due to a PED violation for his association with Tony Bosch’s Biogenesis clinic in Miami last year.
