The Mets impressed Zack Greinke

Dodgers RHP Zack Greinke complimented the Mets offense after facing them Thursday at Citi Field.

Greinke entered the game having allowed two runs or less in his previous 21 starts. However, he needed 52 pitches to get through the first two innings of last night’s game. His night ended in the fifth inning, after throwing 101 pitches, and being charged with three runs.

“That was the best any team’s taken my quality sliders and quality change-ups all year,” Greinke said after the game.

He enters Friday tied for first in wins and fifth in ERA in the National League.

“I thought our guys did a great job of working the counts and getting some balls. We hit some balls pretty good and hit them at some people,” he said.

Wonder if he's impressed by broken clocks? Kidding, Flores and that lineup were looking alright that night.

Are we really that bad that when we have a good offensive game we get complimented? I feel like Grienke just ruffled our hair and said "way to go sport".

Dear fellow Mets "fans". Take the comment and enjoy it for the day. Why do only the most pessimistic fans post here?

If you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you... Imagine that,  pitcher saying something nice about a team that just beat him.

Maybe he was impressed because he saw the best line-up the Mets offered all year. Now, if only Sandy will tolerate sitting the two Youngs on the bench and letting TC run with it.

Need to move Duda out and get a catcher who can hit.

So here's my question. With Flores and Campbell getting at bats, Meija closing and deGrom joining the staff , where should we improve? We need a lot but I can't see where we would replace anyone right now.

Ugh....Greinke...you did not have quality stuff last night. Your comments are more of an insult than compliment.

Well, now that Greinke is impressed, there is no reason whatsoever to go away from the "hunting strikes" approach.

Haa! Come on!!  How much did Sandy give him to say that?

Thats good because we know most Mets swing and miss at fastballs.

That's a nice way of saying that the Mets got lucky.

Way to be modest and give a back-handed complement Grienke...

Cool can the Mets face him 80 more times?

They gotta just keep running this lineup out there. Stop tinkering. We'll still lose to better teams, but this is our best shot.

@MetsFan1962 Actually, he had great stuff.  His command was a bit off, but he had terrific movement on his pitches, and he offers a lot of different looks.  He's right that the Mets did a good job laying off borderline pitches.  Unfortunately, that approach doesn't always work...

@Marc Singleton Free Shake Shack for the rest of the series.

Oh, sorry Greinke, series over.

@Marc Singleton Damn Sandy and the Wilpons, can't believe that they are going as low as getting Greinke to endorse the Mets.

@kefhrny17 that wasn't exactly a backhanded compliment. It was a compliment, flat out-and the lack of modesty proves that.

I'm talking about the roster. The owners can't leave fast enough.

I agree. Looking at the roster on opening day compared to now this team is better. And if the kids pan out we could be a solid team when Harvey comes back and Dyndegaard joins the rotation.

I kid I kid.. I know it was a compliment but it was def not modest.

I totally agree, but Collins is a bonehead

We'll see. Other than a platoon situation at first and catcher I don't see where anyone can be benched. Last nights lineup was the best we've had all year and it showed.

I know, I wouldn't change the lineup. Gotta keep playing the hot hand. But knowing TC, it'll be different. You realize he runs his club like little league, everyone gets an AB to be "fair"....

Actually, I wasn't kidding... He threw 52 pitches in 2 innings, his stuff was off... We got lucky
