Tejada scratched with tight left hamstring

Ruben Tejada was pulled from the lineup with a tight left hamstring.

Tejada was expected to start at shortstop for the Mets in Jupiter as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals.

5:21 p.m.: Tejada said he expects to play again on Tuesday (Rohan, March 2).

Anthony Seratelli started in Tejada’s place.

Ruben Tejada was never meant to be more than a backup to Jose Reyes. No matter how much we hope that he improves, he doesn't have the athletic skills to be a top flight ss.

His most endearing talent is taking pitches, which the Mets have employed to a level of idiocsy.

It is sad to me that so many posters have drank the Mets management Kool Aid about cycling out our few truly talented players, like Murph, Reyes, great young pitchers, for "possibilities."

Keep your talent and future by spending some of our hard-earned money to fill the holes and end this cycle of mediocrity.

I don't mind spending $20 to park and several hundred to take my family to the game, if you put out a representative product....not a band aid one!

I would trade for Franklin and if it doesn't workout we can move him to second and trade Murphy for a SS,or Flores we would have trading chips that are not pitchers which we want to keep.Just keep Montero off the table.

As far as I'm concerned the Mets don't currently have a shortstop on their roster.

the ownership of this team could care less what us the fans want, they hold all the cards and they know better, we are just the stupid idiots that support them!  Time to get real and sign Drew or trade for Franklin is long overdue, what more needs to happen to get this team to finally do the right thing already??  By the way, the mighty Ike Iavis went o-3 with 2 strike outs today, another albatross that needs to go and quickly!!!  this team and its owners are beyond disgusting!!

They won't sign anyone,Joe, I feel your pain but it won't happen. There are SS available, but Sandy does not make trades, unless it's a Salary Domp. Name one trade in his whole 4 years that wasn't a Salary Dump. Just one? With so much pitching in the system I can not figure out why he will not trade an asset for an asset that fills a hole. He is the do nothing GM.

Be better if he was scheduled to start ON Jupiter.

Sign a SS, okay?  A few more months of Wheeler, Grandy-man (Byrd gone by August), better fifth starter material (Laffey/Hefner were your back-end last season at the start, then came Marcum) etc., toss in a decent SS, the team should be at least somewhat interesting, with some new blood that will be here for awhile even before Thor comes up.  Get a new SS and some prospect or something for Davis or Duda along with the other moves & you actually have a decent off-season. Now, at least one major move too little.

How much worse could a backup be than Tejada?

Normally, this isn't a huge deal - but here - it absolutely is.  His conditioning was already a question and he's hurt on Game 3?

I'm sure some people are happy that Seratelli is playing.  Personally, I think those Walter Mitty stories stink.  I want to see real ball players on the field for my team.

Come on, the man played three games of minor league baseball at shortstop last year, and he is being seriously considered to make the 25 man roster?

All I read about the mets is injuries.....tired of it. Will someone tell the sports writers not to write about the freakin' injuries.

That's good news.  Didn't think there was anything tight on his body.

So if Seattle says no deal without Montero your ok with no trade?

@rubiconx0  Micheal Wacha is one of the best young pitchers in baseball. No shame in 2Ks vs him

@eric88  Beltran for Wheeler, Syndergaard and d'arnaud for Dickey, Thole, and another 3rd string catcher, Marlon Byrd and John Buck for Vic Black and the pirates top 2b prospect.  Clown, it's time to return to your circus.  Thanks for trying.

@eric88  Sandy wants maximum value, as is evident by the trades he has made so far.  I believe we will get a shortstop via trade, for the price he wants to pay.  There is an awful lot of hype about deGrom lately, I wonder if he's the chip.  I think he is being cautious: Montero, Syndergaard, Mejia, deGrom, they can't all be studs.

@ifti99 say hello to Quintanilla and his 2 HR's..21 RBI's..222 BA..and his whopping .283 SLG and .589 OPS

How exactly does 2 yr 20 mil get it done when he won't sigh for less than14per.He need to live in the reality of the situation. If he would take 2for 20 he would be signed already.

Yes, no one in any professional league wants him, let's do that!

Seratelli is a great fit for the team. Walter Mitty, really. New blood is what this team needs!

@georgie And my understanding is that they owe an additional $450 million in 2015 against their 65% holding in SNY.

@metsman828  Stephen Drew will suck also....Mets are snake bitten all you read from the papers is injuries, injuries, and more injuries.

I'm tired of it!!!!!

@Ed Yano  I would trade Niese.  I think he's a good guy, but I would part with him over Montero.

@Victor Triguero @eric88whether he actually fleeced the Blue jays remains to be seen, that is if D'Arnaud can actually hit at this level? What i do agree is that sandy has a big mart mouth and isnt allowed to spend and that the Wilpons are shameful and and embarrassing owners!

Andrew Sodergren
Andrew Sodergren

@Victor Triguero @eric88I think the Byrd trade could end up being a good one as well. Herrera is a high-upside, toolsy young middle infielder and Black is a flamethrowing reliever, all for a guy brought in on a minor-league deal who was unlikely to repeat that season at age 38.

@aaar2d2 @ifti99  I agree Q is not the answer but Tejada might be the worst starting SS in baseball. I can't believe Q or Flores could be much worse. You can't hurt falling out of a basement window.

@aaar2d2 @ifti99 Q. is fine if he's a spot back-up who plays now and then.  He get stale after a few weeks.

So give him 14 mil, plus the mets only offered one year deal maybe a 2 yr deal gets it done

@kefhrny17  Yes, I have been a fan since 1970, in the last 15 years I have watched every game on TV plus have gone to the field 2 times with my kids every year since 1975. Have not gone to a game in the last five years.

Right other then the things he has done he has done nothing. It pretty silly that you want to disregard what he has done so you can say he has done nothing. If he has done nothing I guess you also ignore what he has done with the farm system. You don't seem to understand they have been in rebuild mode. This is the first off season that they looked to seriously upgrade the ML roster. You don't have to like what's been going on,but you should understand what's been the plan.1-upgrade farm-done 2 rebuild MLRoster-in progress. Its not happening as fast as we all would have like but it is happening.

boisclair

@ifti99 @aaar2d2  I don't understand why Flores hasn't played a game at short.  For crying out loud, Davey Johnson used to play Kevin Mitchell at short, let's go already.
