Michael Baron: I sat down with Harvey on Friday night in San Diego (that Q&A will post to the blog during the week), and we discussed the perceived rising expectations as well as making his Citi Field debut next week. For someone with a shade under two years of professional experience and three big league starts under his belt, he doesn’t seem the least bit phased about what he’s achieved to date as well as what lies ahead. I think he’s having a blast, but he is incredibly focused on his pitching and ensuring he is mechanically sound with every pitch/pitch type. Harvey is nine years younger than me, but it felt like I was talking to someone who has years and years of experience in this game. He has an approach and a plan each and every day (including those days he doesn’t pitch) – given his age and experience, that makes him an incredibly impressive individual to me.
