Met's shouldn't be on TV if they aren't going to at least put a regular lineup out there to start the game. Not very good marketing plan for selling tickets.

It was nice to see Edgin was in mid-season form. I am so glad there is a lot of pen competition. When he first came up he looked good, but from second time around the league he has been a zero.

I wish the Mets could win 90, but swap Harvey for Colon and Grandy for Byrd {He hit in the .280's CG won't} Thor midyear vs. Wheeler mid-year, and the bullpen took a slight downturn this year, and I see the same team at best.

The only way we can be better is d'arneau all year {Buck had a great 1st half} and more importantly getting Flores into the lineup at 1st base once year four of the Ike, Duda waiting game comes to the fore again. I would be impressed, not happy however, if they somehow win 81 games with this group, but I don't see it.

Duda hit a solo home run!  Sounds familiar.

I strongly believe if the mets make a move for Franklin or Drew they will be in the hunt for the wild card until late September. I think they are just waiting to see if Tedeja has anything to offer.

If spring training victories count towards Alderson's projected 90 win total for the team, then the results of these games matter.  Otherwise, wins and losses in spring training mean absolutely nothing.

Lannan looked pretty sharp today, and seems healthy.  I always thought of him as a decent pitcher when he was with the Nationals.  While the hope should be that a young guy gets that 5th starter spot, at least Lannan presents a more viable option than Aaron Laffey or some of the other clowns that were in camp last year.

This comment doesn't have to do with the game today but Edgin just doesn't seem the same as that first year he was brought up. I wonder if he makes the team or not.

We were missing more than wright Murphy has always hit and granderson will too yes we are without a shortstop but I recall a few years ago we had quite a few holes and we were in 1st at the allstar break we look better a shortstop and Ike hitting puts us in a good position

EVERYBODY PANIC! Or remember that last year the Red Sox went 17 - 17 in Grapefruit league games and the Mets were 15 - 15. Food for thought.

Today's game means absolutely nothing.

Not a thing.

Except for the fact that it was broadcast back to NY and the team's trying to sell tickets.  For marketing purposes, might have been a good idea to better lineup out there.

@Bob Burket  You seriously gotta find something better to shake your head at.  Its the 2nd preseason game.  Jumping to conclusions maybe?

@Bob Burket  Dude, just don't watch. I personally am greatful that they put it on T.V. If all you have to do is not watch, and then we both can have our way. Just don't watch.

@Joe Wenzel  I didn't delete my comments, they were deleted by an unknown party. Not sure why, but it is annoying.

@confused  so you think that they are 1 player away from being a wildcard conender....that's funny.  So without Franklin or Drew we are not a wildcard contender but with either one, we will be. Now I actually believe that if a lot of things go right, they can compete for a wildcard but it is silly to think that they are one player away from wildcard contention.

@confused They're waiting for the price to come down on either of those guys (either in $$ for Drew or players for Franklin).

I think the only time the Spring stats were "relevant" was 1997 when the Marlins assembled one of the best teams, had an eye poppingly good spring and of course carried it over for the whole season.

I take it you didn't see the lineup. Only one opening day projected starter two counting Duda and Collins didn't sub position players till 4th or 5th inning, and hanged all pitchers out no matter how bad.

@Joshua Shapiro @Bob Burket  Sandy said 90 wins in a private meeting, he did not hold a press conference. , rule #1 set the goal high.  If you want 81 victories, you tell them you expect 90.  I am actually excited.  If the pitching pans out, Gee, Niese, or Colon is going to get traded for a big time player in season.  Pitching is always in great Demand, and on top of it, those three don't have crazy contracts, improving our bargaining power.

No drew, pu-lease. He'll be awful at Citi. 235-240, 5-10 hr's and 40-50 rbi's ... Repeat after me: Morales!!!

Using the same logic, would you agree that the Mets have the Marlin's number if the final score was Mets 9 Marlins 0 ? Again using the same logic, it looks like Duda has his job sewn up!

@Brian Daley @Steven Ruley  Pump the breaks, sir. DW is a great player and would be even better if he had some protection in the lineup. Just because he doesn't put his foot in his mouth during interviews does not make him a "Mama's Boy" or a "Do-Goody.
