SNY’s The Good Doctor, about Doc Gooden, will re-air this Wed.

This past weekend, SNY debuted The Good Doctor, in honor of the 30th anniversary of Dwight Gooden’s debut with the Mets.

miniMCavatarMatthew Cerrone: In case you missed it, the dates of the re-runs are listed below, and I highly suggest checking it out. It’s really awesome, and the folks at SNY who produced this should be really proud of their work. It’s easy to forget how awesome Doc was on the field, since it’s so easy to get distracted and bogged down in talk of what happened to him off the field. This documentary, which is admittedly told through his point of view, features tons of footage and discussion by Gooden and his teammates about the good in Doc’s life.

In this clip, Doc explores his childhood from the Tampa Bay Little League fields he once played on, while talking emotionally about his father…

will they include the part where the out of touch ownership got mad doc signed the citifield wall?

I recently met Doc Gooden at an exclusive signing. As a member of the 86 Mets, I was super excited to meet him. Doc was professional, super friendly and based on his life history and struggles... has emerged as a Great Role model.

I don't I've ever seen anyone a dominate in one season as Doc was in '85. As good as Harvey last year, it wasn't anywhere close to what Gooden did. It's a shame the '85 team fell short to the Cardinals as it would have been fun to see what he could have done in the playoffs that year.
