Daniel Murphy "almost certainly" will go to DL

This afternoon at Citi Field, Sandy Alderson spoke with reporters and said Daniel Murphy will “almost certainly” be headed to the disabled list after injuring his knee on a slide by Jose Constanza.

Murphy will soon undergo an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery, even though X-Rays taken today at the stadium were negative.

In regards to Jose Reyes, Alderson said he has ‘a mild pull of his left hamstring.’ He will only comment further after hearing the results of Jose’s MRI, which took place this afternoon.

Ruben Tejada is heading to New York and will likely take Murphy’s place on the roster.

In addition, Alderson basically said:

  • There are no parameters on the diagnosis for Murphy yet.
  • Reyes injured his hamstring running a ball out in the first inning.
  • He isn’t sure if Reyes’s recovery time will be longer than the last time he injured his hamstring.
