Ringolsby: Mets Should Trade David Wright

In a post to FOX Sports, Tracy Ringolsby believes the Mets should trade David Wright, and David Wright deserves to be traded.

…first of all, Wright signed the contract, he didn’t have to do that, and in listening to Wright speak over the years, i don’t think there’s any bone in his body that thinks he deserves to be traded…second, i don’t care how many strikeouts Wright piles up…the Mets should NOT, under any circumstances, trade David Wright…he’s in his mid 20s, is on pace for another 30/30 season and a gold glove at third base, another all-star appearance, he’s under team control for a long time, and hasn’t even entered his physical peak…that type of talent and production doesn’t come around every day…yes, he has struggled for the past couple of years, but come on…this is a guy i want on the Mets roster until he retires, and i firmly believe better days are ahead of him, the team, and the franchise…this is the type of player a team builds around…he may or may not be a clubhouse leader, but i think players lead by example on the field anyway, which i think he does with the bat and the glove despite the strikeouts…

…as Rich Coutinho of ESPN 1050 radio points out here, Wright currently has more RBI than Adrian Gonzalez, Albert Pujols, Mark Teixeira, Ryan Braun, AND Ryan Howard…if that means he’s having a bad year, those other superstars are having awful years…
