Respected Mets executive Adam Wogan will not return

Mets director of major league operations Adam Wogan will not have his contract renewed after next season, the Daily News reported today.

According to the report, “Wogan plans to continue in his role until the end of the year, but has been given immediate permission to speak with other teams.”

“Adam did a terrific job for us over a long period of time,” Sandy Alderson said, according to the report.  “This is not about Adam. This is about some restructuring in the organization.”

Wogan served as director of minor league operations under Omar Minaya starting in 2006, before being promoted to a front office position last season.

“I will have nothing but positive things to say when I leave,” Wogan told the Daily News. “It has been great…working with Sandy, and working with (assistant GM) John (Ricco) for all these years has been terrific.”
