Dillon Gee 6

Dillon Gee could be back July 1

RHP Dillon Gee could begin a rehab assignment June 23 and return to the Mets as early as July 1 (Ehalt, June 11).

Gee has been on the disabled list since May 11 with a strained right lat muscle.

He was supposed to throw a bullpen session on May 26, but had a slight setback and was shut down.

Was there anyone among us who thought he would be back any sooner? My money says after the All Star break.

The season will be over before then.

Back in July after missing supposedly two starts. I think the training staff has been bad this year for his handling and what they just did with Lagares.

So a starter - shut down for 6 weeks due to a strained LAT, which means no workouts - will need only 7 days of rehab to be ready to throw 100 pitches?  Really???

Hopefully he can put together 3-4 good starts and then Sandy can flip him for a bat.

I'll start to believe Gee is coming back anytime soon once he's actually pitching in rehab games

You are correct. The problem is that he has to have a few more starts to show he's back to normal.
