Result: The Mets fell to the Rangers 5-3 at Citi Field on Saturday night.
Need to know: The Rangers jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead with Robinson Chiniros hitting a 3-run homer in the first inning off Bartolo Colon to put the Mets behind early. That was the worst of it for Colon, who ended up going seven inning and gave up only one other run the rest of the way. The Mets’ offense stalled, though they did get a solo home run from the resurgent catcher Travis d’Arnaud. Curtis Granderson had two hits out of the leadoff spot. Colby Lewis picked up the win.
Game ball: Colon gets it for the Mets after a professional outing in the loss. After getting behind 4-0 after less than an inning, Colon gave the Mets a chance to rally pitching seven innings and giving up only a solo home run. Professional performance.
