This may not be a good team but the season is far from over.

deGrom was in command of the Cardinals lineup all game?? I'm starting to think they purposely throw in mistakes just to see if we'll catch them.

Also, is it just me, or would you rather see Familia as the closer instead of Mejia?

It kills to think of all the quality starts the Mets have had this year with zero run support. I'm mindful of all the holes on this team, but if we had just ONE power bat in this lineup behind Wright...

Cardinals... Marlins, 60 wins ...90 wins... All the same in Met land! Lol

Anyone else notice how the blog stated, "game ball to Jacob deGrom who was in command of the CARDINALS all night"?? I'm convinced there is ZERO proof reading before they click "enter" or "send" or whatever button they hit.

Great win... How crazy is it to believe that this team is only 5 games back?

Cuban Abreu at 1st and Nelson Cruz in left along with Lagares and Granderson in the OF, still reasonable payroll and this tam would be in 1st with a 5 game lead and selling out every game, giving guys like dArnaud, Flores and Lagares alot less pressure to perform, Murphy, Wright, Granderson, Cruz,, Abreu, Lagares, Flores and dArnaud hiting 1-8 with EY spotting Murph once a week at second and being the 4th OF, PH and PR, 1 big run producing bat in the middle of the line puts us at the top of the pack, 2 would put us over, look at the impact Stanton has in Miami on a team with good pitching

just the fact that mets passed on abrue and nelson and gave dumb reasons like a glut of 1st basemen duda davis  and that other light hitter satin was a joke abrue is steal  of the decade for his price and nelson was what we needed. i much rather have abrue and cruz over young and grandy. but even if we  signed grandy to it would be a diff of about 15 mil xtra salary a yr but what a team with wright cruz abrue grandy and murph  it would be a solid 2-6 to say the least and still inder 100 mil so whats the prob wilpon sell this team and go buy the astro if you want to be cheap

I wouldn't want tU lo

if you look at it splits. All his numbers come at home. I looked at it a week ago and he was hitting 500 home and 234 on the road. He is at least a partial product of the stadium

With the Rockies 9 games out,  i have a strong feeling that you soon may see Tulo as a Met.  They may do a salary dump which won't cost us many top prospects.  The Wilpons may very well add the salary to shut up the critics.
You add Tulo and you get D'arnaud going,   with our pitching we can possibly make a run for a playoff spot.

Got so far to even have relevant games but promising to see DeGrom pitch like that. Need to string something together.

I am just curious as to what the Mets will do come the trading period next month. I've read at some sport sites that the most likely names to garner attention will be Gee, Niese, Colon and Murphy. I am not at sure what the Mets expect in exchange for these players but the one gentlemen that i am hearing as being 100% untouchable is Sydergaard. I know he is the most attractive piece right now at triple A and honestly that is all he is at the moment. We have seen deGrom  but without any run support..Montero looks like he needs a bit more polishing up but can be good. I would actually keep Niese. He is a lefty and basically the only lefty in the rotation at the moment and the only other promising lefty in the minors is Matz who may be here next June. Colon may bring back a prospect who could be ready next year. Murphy i like but sometimes makes bone headed plays and at times wants to do too much at the plate and kills innings. I'd trade him. The Mets have Dilson Herrera who was recently promoted to Double A and thus far doing well. He most likely will appear at Citi next June.. In the meantime give Flores the full time second base job. Murph can get you something back from the American League he can play as a DH or second baseman. With Hefner-Harvey-Wheeler-Niese -deGrom and Montero ..Mr Gee can also become traded. I actually would want the Mets to perhaps try and trade Sydergaard. .Thus far he is unproven and like our catcher in AAA at the moment Travis he has not really impressed at all and he was the sure thing..when he gets promoted and falters again is he still a future All-Star/? The way scouts talk about Sydergaard he is a future All -star..and teams want him badly..any trade is a coin toss. Some times they work in your favor and sometimes they backfire..Ryan  for Fregosi.....Piazza for Geotz-Yarnell and Preston Wilson..both Geotz and Yarnell were highly praised chips what became of them? If the Mets were offered Stanton or Mr Roy ss Tulowitzk for Sydergaard-Gee-Murphy and perhaps another two aa players would you pull the trigger..at least you know what you'll know what you will be getting..With Sydergaard you will never know.

I'm starting to think enough of Flores talk. The more I watch this kid the more I get why TC doesn't play him.Looks clueless up at bat.And has no range in the field.Plus that I don't care Bobby Bo blowing bubble act going on.Just what I've been seeing when this kid get's in games.

The Rockies trading Tulo would be like the Mets trading Wright.... Not happening

@George Komninakis Cmon man, Tulo is going nowhere.  He IS the Rockies and the team would not be forgiven for trading him.  Simply not going to happen

@Nolan McShea Well, if this post had paragraphs- I would think I'd have written it. Until the trade suggestions at the end. Don't think Tulo will be traded, and if Stanton is- it won't be within the division.

Good post though, if I do say so myself.

mustang66

do yo u need to do some research. The Mets just promoted Matt Reynolds shortstop who is hitting 358 and AA. As I said before I wouldn't give us much at all for Tulo because as of last week he was hitting 500 at home in 234 on the road. The product of Coors Field. I would like to see the Mets this season confirm J lag Matt Reynolds at shortstopand hope dE Nard can be what he is projected. Then we would be Solid second show at third center and right and catcher. Then we can try to fill left field and first base in the off season. That is what I would like to get out of this season.

@Nolan McShea If the Mets "were offered Stanton or Mr Roy ss Tulowitzk" those people would be on the table. Not thinking there is much more chance of that happening than JoLo stopping by to say hi the next time she's in the Bronx. Other than them, I don't want Murphy traded. The team has few players I care about and like watching & he's one.  The Yanks were fun '05-'02 or so not only because they won but because they had people to root for.

Murphy is one of the few here that also has talent. Like Recker. Like the guy. Know he's disposable. Murphy, I know he can be boob, but he also has talent. Don't really know what Flores has. And, don't like watching him as much. But, for the promised land, sure.  If it was Stanton, bet Mr. Syd would not be "untouchable" either.

Anyway, Gee's extended DL stint is hurting him, but others like Colon should get you something useful. Gee too probably -- decent starting pitching is a valued commodity. Heck, bet Dice-K will get something. DeGrom and Montero too. Look at what is making up 3/5 of the Yanks starting staff at the moment.  But, don't want Murphy to go, especially for prospects who are crapshoots.  If it's just a business and personality and spirit is nothing, something to be trade for prospects, I have no wish to emotionally invest in them.

Still not sure about Flores anyhow. Rather them keep Murphy and get someone else for SS.  The pitching and odds and ends they have should get enough for a couple good bats, SS and an OF ideally.

@Nolan McShea  Trade colon for prospects and with those prospects use them for an impact power bat

brrrandooo
brrrandooo

@Nolan McShea I wouldn't trade murphy a career 300 hitter in position that doesnt usually produce a lot of offense based on the prospect of flores or a kid in AA, let flores prove he can hit before we trade murph.

charlie duck sauce
charlie duck sauce

@Brian McCarthy I understand your concerns with him at the plate thus far but you're truly reaching with the "no range in the field" comment. He has done well at SS.

D

So tiring in fact, after he got chased outta here under his previous name JLGA, he made this new account just to bring his sad ass act back

brrrandooo
brrrandooo

@Nolan McShea and you don't always know what you're getting regardless of track record because for whatever reason a lot of players regress when they put on a mets uniform, so I would count on players who we KNOW can play here and work around that

Nolan McShea
Nolan McShea

@brrrandooo @Nolan McShea yeah i hear what your saying about Murphy but he is one of the only players that the Mets could possibly get anything back. I really think he will be a goner come July.

Nolan McShea
Nolan McShea

@brrrandooo Flores needs to play everyday..can't bring guys up from Triple A and have them ride the bench..Its terrible what this management does to its players. Even with Murphy in the lineup they are helpless in scoring runs...today was the first time in a long time that they scored 4 runs and Murph went hitless.

brrrandooo
brrrandooo

@Nolan McShea @brrrandooo I understand why it makes sense to potentially move murphy but for two reasons I wouldn't do it right away 1 is that there's no point in making new holes on a team and 2 is selfish that hes one of my favorite players.  With that being said, I would have to see an actual offer for him be able to make a real assessment

brrrandooo
brrrandooo

@Nolan McShea @brrrandooo I agree flores should play every day, unfortunately the only spot for him right now is Short, is going to play there long term? No but if he proves he can hit he can move to 2nd if murph is traded or 3rd if wright is moved to first which I think is possible sooner than later the way he's throwing the ball lately

brrrandooo
brrrandooo

@Nolan McShea @brrrandooo Honestly I think our rotation can be good enough without him if he would bring back a major league ready hitter in a position of need for us.  With that being said he could easily be the next Roy Halladay so you never know
