Does anybody realize  Granderson is having a better season than Wright.  Hitting for power with a low BA is better than whatever Wright is doing.

Not that they looked good at all, but at least they won the series.

5 1/2 out of first, but only 1 game out of last. Let's not fool ourselves. On pace for 73 wins. And at best only 4 out of our 8 position players equate to starters. This team is what it is, full of holes. Can we really expect more from this roster?

Did Grandy hit in the leadoff spot because of where it was in the order, or did he hit because he was back in the familiar territory of manning CF?  Much has been made of our infielders playing out of position and it affecting their hitting.  How come nobody has considered this as Granderson has been playing the corners?

Grandy homered in the top of the first?

Where would we be without the DBacks, Phillies, and Padres?

d'Arnaud hit his 5th HR tonight for Las Vegas, since he's been down there.

its a miracle they win a series and dont get swept!  They only and barely won todays game because the Padres are worse than they are

It is about time Granderson was put in the leadoff spot.  That is where he should have been from day 1.

Well folks, what you saw on the field today was some of Sandy's best work over the course of 8 years. (4 for each team)  That had to be the worst assemblage of dreck you'll find in a major league ballpark this season.  What people see in this guy is completely lost on me.

I guess we all can say with certainty that Brown is a AAAA bat. Nothing more.

Less than 50 comments? Mets must have won.

With EY coming back tomorrow do you bat him 9th with the pitcher batting 8th and Granderson leadoff?

Nice to take a series for a change. With all the losing...questionable lineup decisions. underperforming from several players, it is nice to be on the winning end...and...with all of this, the mets are still 4.5 games out of first...which shows how bad the division is and not how good the Mets are...because they are not good

Lets just remember it is the Padres...our offense still struggled 2 out of these 3 games, we just happened to play a team with a more anemic offense then us...

Now if they go on the road and take care of business against the Marlins and Cardinals, before they get home and play the A's (geez), then we can start feeling a bit good again...I just don't think they can do it

The Good news is we won. The bad news is ,it was a boring freakin game and we have to go to St Louis

Crazy thing is that with a braves loss the mets are only 4.5 games out....one good run and they are back in it....won't happen though

The Mets delivered a Happy Fathers Day surprise,  a WIN. . . Grandy looks like he is finally getting into the groove and Duda looked pretty good too. . Congrats to Torres for going long and Mejia for the save. . Good day all around for our Metsies.

Torres finally getting some credit. Guy has been money since we got him no matter what he's asked to do. Slowly becoming one of my favorite mets

So, with all the crying and complaining we won the series??? You guys really need to relax.

Looked at the box.  Again, Eric Campbell came in and got hits that have been rare these days.  Why is C. Young playing and not Campbell.  Defense?  That is better with Campbell.  GM afraid to admit a mistake when Young is only fulfilling declining production the last couple years?   We need an outfield of Granderson (now that he found his eye), Abreu, and Campbell.  When Lagares comes back that is a great problem, but I suspect Abreu will not be there the long haul, so platoon them.  Stop hoping E. Young and C. Young will do something they have not previously,  unless these guys falter big time.  Because the  Youngs have faltered big time.

He is batting over 350 with an OBP around 440 and 560+ slg% in june as well as batting 253 with a 373 OBP and 468 slg% in may. playing CF vs RF has nothing to do with it.

Guess he's a triple A Allstar. Good for him . We need major league hitters on the NY Mets. Badly .

@Al Gelsomino As far as what I've seen this year with the Mets, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."  In other words, it doesn't seem to translate to the Bigs.

Really? Is that where he's had the most success in the past?

Alderson comes across as very confident and well spoken. This somehow blinds many people to the fact that he's just not good at his job. The decisions he's made and the results really do speak for themselves.

Doubleday

@Macacawitz Ironically, as Sandy continues to dismantle Omar's Mets legacy, Omar is trying to undo Sandy's legacy in San Diego.

@tigerinblu That's not true. You can't take a guy who is hot, sit him on the bench for 3 weeks and then expect him to stay hot. The mets announcers have been trying to make people understand this. He had one chance. Struck out 3 times and so now he will be benched again. It's impossible for anybody to hit that way. Granderson is hitting now. How long did it take him. How many times did He strike out. Brown and Campbell would hit too, if they let them play.

@William Bonilla  Yet Baldy will still sit on his hands while were still in striking distance-then second half collapse occurs,AGAIN

@William Bonilla  Except like we've seen so far this season that 1 good run that puts them back in it will be immediately followed by a terrible run that puts them right back out of it.

@jsteele1020 They looked terrible against the SAN DIEGO PADRES. Mets fans have the right to complain and worry.

@Jim Davis  CY was promised at least 600ABs when he signed here and Sandy intends to fulfill that promise. So you will continue to see his name in the lineup most days even after EY and Lagares return

ericccb
ericccb

@Jim Davis I agree Campbell should be in over CY but CY does play good defense. EY has not faltered he is what he is. He is not getting paid over $7 million dollars to play for us. We got him for a bag of baseballs and if used properly he would be a great 4th OF. CY was paid to come here and play better than he has over the past few years but it hasn't happened. He got paid too much. Sandy screwed that one up.

Kenneth Meltsner

@Marc Singleton Too damn many quadruple A players on this roster. At least Campbell has been somewhat consistent. And he seems to play the least.

MetsFan1962

@William Bonilla And, to think he was rotting in the minors before being brought up last year or was it two. Time passes quickly.

Jim Davis

@Brian Webster @Jim Davis Fair enough.  600 ABs in Las Vegas sounds about right.  Actually, like to see him go down to get his swing back.  Was that really in the contract??

Alec Wilson
Alec Wilson

@Brian Webster @Jim Davis  I'm sure he promised to hit as well, he's killing this team, get him the hell out the line-up, let him pinch hit for a couple of weeks....I know Campbell and Abreu's defence are average at best but with this team they need hits and these guys can deliver

Brian Webster
Brian Webster

@ericccb @Jim Davis  Actually they got EY for Collin McHugh who is pitching well starting for Hou with a 3.03 ERA 10.01 K/9 1.08 WHIP this season.

Nick Squatrito

Yes we took 2 of 3 but I guess we need to say it again. It was the Padres. Its amazing how some of you guys see us win a series against the worst team in baseball and all of a sudden think were contendors again

ericccb
ericccb

@Brian Webster @ericccb @Jim Davis My mistake, thank you. However we did trade McHugh to the Rockies and he was placed on waivers after letting up 21 runs in 19 innings. Small sample size, but still let go.

Brian Webster
Brian Webster

@ericccb @Jim Davis  True but regardless of where he's now having success the Mets still gave him up. It doesn't really matter if Col kept him, traded him or whatever when judging what the Mets gave up. And it's just the start of the season after they traded him during the season last year. It's not like it's 5yrs later or something where he finally found it.
