Recap: Day 2 from the MLB Winter Meetings

In case you missed it, from earlier today:

David Wright 4 polaroidThe Mets officially announced that they’ve reached a deal with David Wright that runs through 2020. The team will hold a press conference tomorrow at 12 pm ET with Wright, Jeff Wilpon and Sandy Alderson in Nashville, which will air live on SNY.

In regards to hot stove rumors, the Mets are contemplating signing free-agent Mark Reynolds to play the outfield (Davidoff, NYP).

Sandy Alderson said he met with Scott Hairston’s agent today.

The Mets are looking for a veteran left-handed reliever, and they’ve inquired about LHP Manny Parra (Sherman, NYP)

The Mets have shown interest in free-agent LHP John Lannan (Sherman, NYP).

The Mets are open to offering free-agent OF Ryan Ludwick a two-year deal, worth between $6-7 million per year (Davidoff, NYP).

The Mets are interested in Indians RHP Vinnie Pestano (Rubin, ESPNNY).

“We’ve really had virtually no discussions with anyone about Jonathan Niese,” Sandy Alderson told reporters today in Nashville. Yesterday, Alderson said the Mets had talked to teams about Niese, but he was talked about less than R.A. Dickey.

Bobby Parnell is virtually untouchable this winter (Rubin, ESPNNY).

It is highly unlikely the Mets bring back free-agent C Kelly Shoppach, nor are they interested in free-agent C Jesus Flores (Rubin, ESPNNY).

The Mets also are not impressed with Red Sox C Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Also, Royals manager Ned Yost told MLB Network Radio that his team is willing to deal Wil Myers if it brought them a starting pitcher who can “put them over the top.”

The Blue Jays now have four catchers on their 40-man roster, including J.P. Arencibia and Travis d’Arnaud.

The Red Sox and free-agent OF Shane Victorino agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract, and the Nationals and Dan Haren agreed to one-year, $13 million deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
