Result: The Mets fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 in game two of a three game series at Citi Field on Wednesday.
Need to Know: Jacob deGrom (0-3), in his sixth major league start, failed to earn his first win. deGrom gave up three runs on nine hits in five and two-thirds innings pitched. The Mets got on the board first with a Lucas Duda sac fly in the second, but the Brewers would answer right back in the next three innings. They scored a run in each of the third, fourth, and fifth frames. Jonathan Lucroy went 3-for-5 with an RBI to help Milwaukee’s cause. The Met bullpen of Josh Edgin, Carlos Torres, Dana Eveland, and Vic Black combined to shutout the Brewers over the final three and one-third innings. Wily Peralta (6-5) got the win for Milwaukee, as former Met Francisco Rodriguez nailed down a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his national league leading 20th save.
Game Ball: Peralta gets it, for his six and one-third innings, four hit, one run effort.
What’s Next: The Mets and Brewers will play the rubber game of the series Thursday at Citi Field. First pitch is schedule for 7:10 PM.
