Rafael Montero throws six scoreless for Triple-A Las Vegas

Mets RHP prospect Rafael Montero tossed six scoreless innings for Triple-A Las Vegas, who won, 9-2 win, on Thursday.

Noah Syndergaard is scheduled to make his Triple-A debut on Friday night.

Triple-A starting pitchers, including Montero and Syndergaard, may get time pitching in the bullpen during April and May to limit their innings and make them more available to pitch for the Mets later in the season (Newsday, Apr. 3).

GEICO SportsNite has highlights of Montero’s start on Thursday night for Triple-A Las Vegas in which he pitched six shutout innings.

I'll be following the games is Vegas. They have far more interest to me.

But they rather have Lannan on the team. It boggles the mind

Sooner of later I suspect Montero, Wilmer, another prospect like Degrom or Matz and Ike or Duda will be packaged for a hitter, preferably a 1st baseman.

I so wish the Vegas game with Thor pitching was on SNY tonight instead of the Mets. I'd be much more interested in watching that.

I want Montero to start. The Mets just aren't competent (or lucky) enough like other organizations to take risks with their prospects. Ride out the storm, it's a lost year, and let him and Noah S. come up in June and have fun. Also, bring up Puello.

Wouldn't it be nice to see him throw 2 scoreless innings of relief up here? We might have a few wins by now.

They are hard to watch. Ike, Dud A, Rube, Satin, Warthan, Farnsworthless. Dozed off typing their names. Drew is waiting.

The Starting Pitching is not the problem at the ML level.  Let these guys get their seasoning and come up when they are ready.  Would be a mistake to simply bring them up in a panic after 3 games.

Gee, Colon, and Wheeler all pitched well enough to win.  The 3 losses are all on the bullpen and lack of offense.

We have the horses.. we probably would not be 0-3 if Sandy/Terry/Wilpons had half a brain between them and took the best team north at the start of the season

Montero picking up where he left off last year. As i've said before, This kid is money!

The mets are garbage....why waste service time on either one of them this year????? If there is a cutoff where service time isn't a factor  then who cares....but until then, don't bring either one up.

When is the service time cutoff to delay free agency?  Montero should be on a plane to Queens that day to help this bullpen.  He can actually throw strikes which there has not been much of this year.  Maybe he can teach Wheeler.

Im not seeing how this is Collins fault at all. His hands are tied... Tony La Russa wouldnt win with this team.

Let's hang around the AAA team, they are more fun that the MLB team :{

I would say bring him up. But it wouldn't matter cus the bullpen sucks and the hitting isnt much better. Time for the Collins Era to end

@simbad  What are you tired of Wilmer already?  Puello went 0-4 struck out 3 times.  Captn Kirk had 4 hits including a HR.

@Adam Dubbs  Gee is not someone I would put after he has thrown 90 pitches. We lost the first game because Collins let Gee go pitch one more inning. The bullpen is bad, yes. But the game was basically out of reach when the bullpen entered

@Eric Olesh  it varies every year but roughly beginning of June is the cutoff date

I just looked it up.  April 11 for delay in FA.  Super 2 status is uncertain, but it keeps moving back because everyone plays games.
