Quote: Mejia is the next Mariano Rivera

4398467051_76e20319dfAccording to Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record, Darryl Strawberry thinks Jenrry Mejia can be the next Mariano Rivera, adding, “There’s your closer.”

…i see what they see… it’s hard not to… but, it just seems so early to abandon the potential for him to be a dominant starting pitcher… but, i see what they see, which is that he has a nasty fastball, and a cutter to match, and they look very similar, and so he it’s easy to see the comparisons to mariano… the thing is, unlike mo, he is not nearly as consistent in his delivery, which is what makes mo so damn amazing… from what i can gather, the thought might be, why waste time trying to teach him a new pitch or two, in hopes he’ll be able to command them, when they could harness what he does well now, or at least sooner than later

Florida's Billy Donovan still intrigued by NBA

''I got into coaching because of the basketball piece of it, and there is an intrigue as it relates to (the NBA),'' Donovan, who led Florida to two national championships, said. ''When you try to project where your future is, where you're going to be, and you don't know because I don't have a crystal ball, all I can say is I am happy here at Florida. I love being here.

''The NBA part of it, the intrigue part of it for me, is just the fact that it's basketball 24 hours a day. That's all you're dealing with is basketball.''

Can we talk about my boy Stat? This guy deserves his money and idc what anybody says. Wow.. How can he still look so good after all the injuries and in Woodson horrible system. Ill pay him 100mil just bc of his work ethic. Only the great ones put in as much work.

No rookie mistake in the last 5 min; Stupid coach decision. Non of the bench guys get to play w/ the main(w/ rotation players) and of course not together often. Murry should get to play at least 3-5 min a game. Don't put him in after riding the wood hard multiple games and expect miracles. Glad when Woody is gone.

If there was any doubt as to why Woody should be let go at seasons end tonight was the final straw. To take out your starters for as long as you did was unacceptable and then when up 3 to not instruct your players to foul is pathetic.

It's too damn late to argue about stuff after a W. See you guys around on Sunday.

Didn't see the game..glad we won... glad I added another year to my life not stressing this too close of a game. However..a W is a W by 1 or 20

IDC how good our frontline plays come playoffs the key for an upset first rounder ( if we make it of course) will be our Guards. JR, Felton and Tim need to play lights out

Everyone in this chat has to stop assuming well beat every bad team and all the teams were chasing will losse to every decent team they play. All of these teams are fighting for playoff position and will be going and there and playing their hardest every night…….look at us we beat the Pacers

I think next year Tim Hardaway Jr will enter the Dunking contest and 3 pt contest

Dudes in here thinking the Knicks players or should I say Starters almost lost this game must really lay off the CRACK! and obviously didnt watch the game! If we did lost it would be on Woody head! for taking out the starters with 5 minutes remaining, The bench clearly werent in any type of rythm tonight

100 million? He's playing very well and I love it! But c'mon son!

@JerseyFan1  He's gonna make a mockery of the playoffs!! We actually have a coach with severe learning disabilities!

Woodpecker does suck! But truth of the matter is Murry is just not very good!

@moneyball It ended closer than it was, we were up by 16 with 5 to play and Woody pulled the starters and they blew it...

ponzies86
ponzies86

@moneyball  Not as close as the final score projected, We were up by like 15 I believe and Woody took the starters out with 5 to go

crafalko17
crafalko17

@knickstape We have to assume that we beat the bad teams...if we don't we don't belong in the playoffs.

crafalko17

@ponzies86 He had a nasty reverse dunk this game. Kid has so much offensive potential. Though given how tired he looks and how much he has struggled since the ASB, I might want him to rest up for that week and be stronger down the stretch.

@Jimmy BX  one team a virtual lock to make the playoffs the other fighting to stay in idk how you can call this game a lock

crafalko17
crafalko17

@Jimmy BX I wanna face Indiana in the first round, whether that is 7th or 8th seed idc. Both teams are struggling which only makes it more likely that we pull this off. Hell of a run so far.

@Biggie  watch u make bad predictions and learn how to pay up at the end of the seasons. haha

crafalko17
crafalko17

@ponzies86 I don't mind him pullin the starters with a 16point lead and 5 mins left. The issue was not calling a timeout and putting them back in when they cut that lead in half in about 1:30...

Kiyan.

The #s he's putting up are very similar to his Phoenix and 2010 Knicks days. He would avg 25+ points if he played more mins and be top 5 scorer in the NBA. I know his defense is not there but we're getting to see what Stat and Melo were supposed to be when Melo got here. We just need a better coach that can implemen good team defense. Thibs get it done with Boozer and he is just asas bad as Stat on defense.

@Jerry Gee @Seth Nadler  how much is on Woody and how much is on these players for not using a little common sense Murray and Tyler always going for the highlight play…….Im sure Woodson did tell them to milk the clock and even if he didn't it should be common sense

knickstape
knickstape

@Jerry Gee we played well tonight the sixes are playing hard they want to win they're not letting teams win they're just truly that bad…..you know they don't want to be in the record books for most consecutive losses…..Woodson should've left the starters in for an extra minute or two and we probably would've won by 20

knickstape
knickstape

@crafalko17  I'm talking more along the lines of us assuming the Bobcats and Hawks will lose every game they're going to be going out every night playing against teams who are already locked into the playoffs and disinterested with the end of the season

ponzies86
ponzies86

@crafalko17 @ponzies86  I think its the fact coming off the bench and not having a rhythm, Tim was always a starter, this is the first time in his career coming off the bench

ponzies86
ponzies86

@crafalko17 @ponzies86  Well listen if Knicks lost it tonight this lost would be on Woody head plain and simple. The bench was flat tonight

crafalko17
crafalko17

@knickstape @crafalko17Oh for sure, Woody just had more faith in his 3rd stringer than he should have and got bit in the ass for it. Bet you it won't happen again this season though.

knickstape
knickstape

@crafalko17 its one of those situations where we should have it but the game clearly wasn't over, like i said above i aways think what the game would look like if they hit back to back three and a 10 point game with 4 minutes remaining is far from over

knickstape
knickstape

@Jerry Gee haha you can put the third strain guys in just need to wait until he game is actually out of reach

crafalko17
crafalko17

@Jerry Gee @knickstapeThat's an entirely different argument that we can agree on. Should stop shakin your head tho, gonna give yourself a concussion.

knickstape
knickstape

@Jerry Gee agreed a 16 point games with 5 minutes is not over but 16 points with 3 minutes is probably over is all I'm saying

I always look at it like this what if the other teams hits back to back threes how would the game look then, and if it still looks over its probably over

knickstape
knickstape

@crafalko17 They looked disinterested early turned it on at the end, but I'm just saying in general Pacers haven't been the same team…Bird even called them out on it

crafalko17
crafalko17

@knickstape I didn't think the Pacers took that game off, Hibbert was a MONSTER, just George had an off game and we pulled it out. I tend to look more at our schedule and see what we have to do. Everything else tends to take care of itself if we do our part, ya know?

knickstape
knickstape

@crafalko17 I'm talking about a team like the blazers tat probably doesn't care if they drop a place in the standings….its Clippers or Houston so not like you'd much rather play one over the other….and then there a team like the Pacers who seem a little disinterested since clinching and are just focused on playing the heat in the eastern conference finals (which makes them vulnerable to an upset)

crafalko17
crafalko17

@knickstape @crafalko17No seeds are locked so not sure which teams you are referring to. All the teams are either fighting for home court in the 1st round/overall or just trying to hold a spot in the playoffs. Don't see much resting happening this year except with the Heat and Wade. Just my opinion though.

knickstape
knickstape

@crafalko17 @ponzies86  Agreed right now Timmy is a 6th man at best i know everybody loves him (me included) but he's probably the most one dimensional player on the team…..Great scorer but doesn't pass, doesn't defend, doesn't rebound

Not saying he can't learn to do those things but right now i still think JR smith is the better player

crafalko17
crafalko17

@ponzies86 @crafalko17I feel like that'd only add more pressure. He's performed well in his role and is used to it by now. I think he likes the idea of being the top scoring threat off the bench and is just happy to be here. In every interview he has looked especially humble and sincere.

crafalko17
crafalko17

@ponzies86 @crafalko17He was doing fine in the first half though. I think it is just the length of the season. This season is almost twice as long as college with more than twice as many games. I bet he is just mentally and physically exhausted from the grind that he isn't used.

crafalko17
crafalko17

@ponzies86 @crafalko17Oh without a doubt, I'm just saying his theory wasn't wrong, just the execution was pretty terrible lmao. He prob gave the guys a pat on the back and said nice work and felt stupid for having to put them back in.
