Last week on SNY’s Mets Hot Stove Report, Kevin Burkhardt talked with Daniel Murphy about his 2008 season with the Mets, his home town, and his thoughts on next season.
During the interview, Murphy relays the following story, while taking batting practice:
“When I came (to Jacksonville University), as a freshman, and we were introducing ourselves, and they ask, ‘What’s your name, what position do you play,’ and, of course, being the 18–year-old idiot I was, I told them, ‘My name is Daniel Murphy, and I bat third.’ I was just kind of half joking, and serious at the same time.”
…i love it, man…that’s great…this kid is going to be my favorite player on the team, i can tell already…
