In late July 2011, when Zack Wheeler was still with the Giants, ESPN reported that Wheeler was on San Francisco’s short-list of ‘untouchables,’ a group of three prospects Brian Sabean would not trade.

They later added, “It is highly doubtful that San Francisco would give up Wheeler for Beltran.”

Sabean traded Wheeler for Beltran a few days later.
