Jose Reyes Takes BP, Nick Evans Optioned, Mike Pelfrey Bumped

This afternoon at AT&T Park in San Francisco, Jerry Manuel spoke with reporters and said Jose Reyes took 30 swings from the left side indoors today, and then took batting practice outside with his teammates, and it’s possible he could start on Sunday.

In the meantime, INF Justin Turner has been called up from Triple-A Buffalo to add infield depth to the roster, and the Mets have optioned Nick Evans to Double-A Binghamton.

In 65 games for Buffalo and Norfolk, the 25 year old Turner is hitting ..282 with four home runs and 24 RBI.

Turner played five games for the Orioles this year, going 0 for 9, and he’s 3 for 27 in his Major League career.

Meanwhile, Mike Pelfrey has been scratched from his start tomorrow with stiffness in his neck, and will start Monday against the Diamondbacks in Phoenix.

Hisanori Takahashi will now start tomorrow, followed by Johan Santana on Sunday.

…well, at the very least, Pelf gets an extra couple of days of rest…
