that was one of the worst things i have seen in a long time… i mean, a loss is one thing… but, to lose in 14 mostly-boring innings, AT 2 AM, to be 1–6 on this road trip, was brutal… just awful… like at so many other times the last few seasons, i feel like i am being punched in the stomach again…

…the team’s offense just can’t get anything going… it’s remarkable… they get a guy on, get thrown out stealing… get a runner over, pop out… get a single, hit in to a double play… they hit a home run, but there is no one on base…

…what’s more, Jason Bay is terrible… dude, get it together… it’s July… late July… are you serious… i realize nobody else is hitting… this is true… but, at times this season when other players were hot, bay stunk it up… everyone has a hot streak, from David Wright to Jose Reyes to Ike Davis… they all carried bay and covered up his struggles… his teammates have been picking him up all season… well, it’s time for him to step up and pick up his teammates… this getting to be unacceptable… if he can’t find his stroke, and if the team continues not to score and keeps losing, then, sooner than later, he will need to be part of the platoon, in an effort to switch things up

…the silver lining, if there is one, is that the league is still average and lots of teams are floundering and floating and so there is still hope, that if the Mets can stop the slide, things can get back right… but, to do that, the Mets have to stop this slide… and soon

The Mets scored just seven runs in the three-game series.

The team travels to Los Angeles tonight to begin a three-game series with the Dodgers at 10:10 pm, with Hisanori Takahashi (7-4, 4.69 ERA) taking on Hiroki Kuroda  (7-8, 3.74 ERA).
